EDIT: The Mesa has gotten all my gig time since getting it, but I also have a G-K MB500 and MB800. I've been using the MB500 in one jam session I play in and then use a speaker cabinet that the host has. There's absolutely no lack of authority with that amp, either.

My band is off for Christmas and then we're planning to spend January and February working on adding new material before starting to gig again around March. Once we start back up, I'll bring my MB800 out for a few gigs and see how that amp compares to my Mesa. Given my experience with the MB500 as well as the ridiculous punch I've already seen at home with the MB800, I'm certain that amp will also enable my Stingray to speak with all the authority I could possibly want on a gig. :D

As I play a Ray 35 with a single humbucker, which I find brilliant to play and very versatile in tone etc. What exactly would be the advantage added by the second humbucker?

Mind you, I love the look of it and dream of having it at night, most every night. Just positively wondering.
