Now that's creative! From what Dave has told me, it sounds like a really beefy Tele, which is a cool vibe.

I told my wife what was going with this thread.

She's new to the whole internet thing.

She was in disbelief until I showed her the thread.

She is really shocked, by what's going on here.

She said "you guys have formed a brotherhood. That's impressive!"

We are just like any other disfunctional family.

Question. This thread is far too long to read through, I just wanted to know if Jai knows the serial number of his bass, so that if I ever see it or one like it I'll try to identify it? Cuz the first thing I'd do is call the police, and then once they show up, I'll explain everything to them, THEN confront whoever has the bass. I'd want to print up a business card or something with the serial number and photo of the bass, and just keep it in my wallet until it's recovered.

ok, so driver800 emails me this afternoon and told me that he thinks he saw my stolen bass in a Craiglist ad...

I contacted the seller and traded emails with him saying that I would like to check out the bass and that I'm interested in purchasing it.


Called the detective that was assigned to the case 14 months ago and set up a time to meet the seller.


Met the seller (at his house), saw the bass... 2 minutes later the detective and his partner knock on the door and introduce themselves to the seller. After exchanging documents and explaining to the seller that I was the rightful owner of that bass, He relinquished the bass to the detective, then the detective gave the bass to me.

I'm pretty much in shock and can't believe that I got the bass back.

Thank you so much to everyone for your support after it was stolen. Once the dust settles and I sell some gear, I will happily send back the donations sent on my behalf toward the replacement bass.

the seller had no idea that it was stolen... he ended up getting it at a pawn shop in Gwinnett county for $1000 and was trying to sell it to me for $2500. The funny thing is that it was over $4k to build it.

As for the condition, it is in the same condition as if left me! Well, the strings could use some changing and couple of batteries need to be replaced, but I'm not complaining.

Looks like the pawn shop in Gwinnett did not do their due diligence. Remind me never to go there.

Congrats on getting the bass back!
