I think it would cool if the replacement bass is every bit as special as the first one. (i.e. flamed/exotic top or whatever)But whatever J-Raj wants would be totally cool by me.

How about posting a list showing total amount received so we know the tally and how much is still needed?

I'd love to go as special as the first one, but after this experience, I realized that I would like hone-down to what I really needed in a bass of that nature. Eventhough I'm very much a 4 and 5 string player, towards the time that bass was stolen, I was wanting to flip back to B-G tuning. But, having that C string really opened up a lot more for me writing-wise, helping me to learn more 'heads' of tunes and assisting me to get my head around melodies more comfortably. So, a 6 is the direction I need to take. As for electronics, I was using that last SCD in passive mode for the last couple months I had it, so I thought to pair-down to that as well.

As for the quote, I spoke to Brian on his way back from Memphis and the one thing that is going to change things is the top. At first, I had a friend that was going to help supply the top, but he is having a bit of trouble finding a piece (in his collection) large enough for what we need. So once I can figure a logical and practical solution, I'm going to spec it out with Brian.

My last SCD was around $4k, but I would like to keep this one to 60-70% of that. As soon as the fund reaches $1k, I'm going to send the $ to Brian to get into the build schedule. We might the bass completed around the NAMM show next year (Jan '08).

I would donate more, but unfortunately I'm a college student that pays for all of my own expenses and I just got nailed really hard this week fixing up my car to pass the smog. wow thor!!! I just saw this! I might have to take you up on that (after the NE GTG, of course), I'm down to 3 basses, but only my Fender J and the Nordy make it out to gigs. I'm still having problems with my fretless, can't afford to fix the probs at the moment, so this might help me on those fretless gigs.

Once I land a daygig, I'm hoping to get wifey-approval on putting down on another Bennie. Hopefully a stripped-down passive (VVT) 6 string SCD with the same p/up config.
