I think you will find the low-end a bit lacking, or the mids too boosted. just too much of a variance between on and off for me. however the OD is fantastic if you can live with the lack or precieved lack of low end. I compared it directly to the Wampler Plexi-drive and the OD tone is very similar but the bass switch on the Wampler makes all the difference.

either way I am curious as to how you find it.

Someone did a review online as being an owner of both and did say the Joyo had better low end.

If not Corey, $40 ain't too bad for a decent overdrive. I was willing to pony up full price for the Joyo. Just might be a little bit before I get it.

Laz the Monkey Dream site had some light strips too. The ones featured on the cabs look rad.

Well, the Joyo has massive amounts of low end. So I wouldn't be too surprised if the OCD came out a little thinner in comparison. I tried a new OCD this past weekend at GC, but it was on guitar. I couldn't compare head to head obviously, but it seemed a little thinner and a little lower gain than the Joyo. My go to non-fuzz bass dirt is still the vintage RAT with LS-2 for clean blend anyway, so even if it just wins for stacking into a Muff for my guitar rig, I'll pass on the Joyo. I told myself I would do that when I bought it.

I'll let you know Joe, I'm going to email a guy about an OCD on thegearpage today. It would probably be the first week of the year before I could ship anything out anyway.

I have both, the Joyo has more low end, way more output, and slightly more gain but isnt as natural sounding in its breakup as the real deal. The OCD doesnt color your tone like the Joyo, and while having less crunch sounds smoother and more pleasant on guitar to me. I haven't tried them head to head on bass though.

In other Doom news, we have our second show set for 02/01/2013. We don't have any details as far as who we are playing with and all, but we do know it's at The Triple Nickel. This is the other venue in town that caters to underground bands. Of the two venues, this one is more likely to have touring bands come through. Making a good impression here is mandatory for us.

The venue is owned by JJ Nobody of the Nobobys fame. Fingers crossed it will be with some other heavy bands.

Anybody have a show report from this weekend? I was busy redoing my fireplace. My back was trashed all weekend :(

The OCD is definitely more of what I need for guitar, which is why I'm buying it. At the very least if it could get in the range of my RAT at a low gain setting, it could find a spot on my bass pedalboard, since it's much smaller. I'm not overly concerned with that though, I have my board pretty tightly planned out with the W&C Pickle Pie B, RAT and EBS Multidrive, into the Dunwich preamp. I drew up everything to scale and bought all the proper length cables and everything when I ordered from Nick. Between those all my bases are covered for the dirt I use in all my different projects on bass.

No problem Joe, I'm always happy to pay a good deal forward to my stoner/doom buddies.

Right on. I have an older Tama kit, from the 1990s (tama Grandstar. I happen to know a thing or two about the Tama brand. I think Tama and DW hardware is some of the best in the industry. The overall condition can be a great indicator as to how the kit was treated over the years. Wraps can unwrap over time with the glue giving way and the vibrations breaking it loose. And painted and stained kits are less common and have their own issues. There are also so many things to look for when buying a kit that are impossible to cover. It turns into a bit of a leap of faith buying a used kit.

If you find a Tama, I would be happy to offer my opinion on any Tama, or other kits you find.

So I think I may pick up a Peavey IPR1600 eventually, to replace the Acoustic. It just doesnt have enough juice, 70's SS watts or not. And since Ive put new speakers in my sunn 2x15's I can handle more power. The only thing I dont like is that there aren't front inputs, but I would rack mount it and put some front inputs in a blank rack space.

Those are nice amps, I'm using a class D power amp bridged for roughly 800W, sounds great.

I used to have a black Tama rockstar kit that was alright. It was originally a double-bass kit, but one of the kick drums was getting mushy on top where the hardware connects (must have gotten wet a few times?) so I just knocked it down to a 4-piece with lots of extra parts.

...and for reasons/justifications including "I had a ****** couple of weeks" and "**** it" - I picked up the small stone nano just now. Good reviews and the price was right.

Which Acoustic you runnin again? If you go with that Peavey guy, what you gonna preamp it with?
