NBD! Picked up a used Epi Thunderbird off Craigslist for a song. The only downside is the kid who had it spray painted the pick guard, rendering it useless. I think I may go guard-less, but will need to fill the screw holes somehow for sake of my OCD. Going to get a quote from a local luthier, but I assume it's going to cost almost what I paid for the bass. May try my hand at drop filling myself.

Thing sounds great though. Love the passive pickups for heavy stuff compared to my EMG equipped ESP J1005. The ESP is definitely a better build, but just doesn't growl like the T-bird. I thew on some Flat Chromes, used purple thread lock on the bridge studs to get rid of the play, tightened up the tuners, re-hydrated the fretboard, relocated the front strap button to the neck plate to curb neck dive, set action, and intonated. Sounds delicious.

Anyone try Lollar PU's in their Epi T-birds?

quick question: (I dare not post this in Basses, for fear of a huge conflagration aimed my way) if you had an all mahogany bass, let's say my old Hamer Cruise, and you put in TB pickups, would it sound the same as a TB?

Depends on if the pickups are in the same position that they would be on the t-bird. If it's all mahogany, and you put the same pickups the t-bird has in the same positions that they would be on a t-bird, it should sound pretty similar.

I guess it depends on what makes it an "eleven hour song". If it's a whole album and they just connect everything with drones and feedback for 20 minutes at a time, not that crazy. I mean, I could go record 20 minutes of material, mix it and turn it into a 5 hour song. It'd take less time to make it than long than to play for that long. Especially if you're throwing in any kind of electronic/effects related noise stuff.

No I have a p j already, I guess wiring up the Warwick has me thinking most humbuckers are series and the pbass are series would it be cool to have that option on the jazz too.

Sartori, screws are an option too, but it feels like a compromise or something. Idk. I wish aesthetic issues didn't bother me but they do. It's a curse. Thanks for the idea!

You could always buy some pan head screws and just paint the tops black. I do it all the time at work, when I don't have screws that match something. Just grab a cardboard box you need to throw away, pop the screws in, hit them with some spray paint and leave it in the sun to dry, additional coats as necessary. Sometimes I just grab a scrap or cardboard and straddle it over the top of a trashcan, then I don't have to worry about overspray.

I'm no expert when it comes to delays but from my limited experience it is nice and warm but the decay is definitely digital. More than enough delay time and the tone control is pretty cool.

Now that I've got the chance to listen to this Clutch album my favorite way (in my car) I'm thinking it's a lot better than just better than the last two!

11 hr song. haha. My bandmates would joke about doing something like that. Play a super doom set, strum a note set the guitar down get a beer, come back play another note, go outside smoke a cig, repeat 5 times, breakdown leave.

100w tube head channel out -> 200w tube head channel in (to link them together)
