Stoner/Doom Bassist Thread Part 13: The Lost Thread

Love me some Sungrazer! Got their LP on vinyl.

Also what's wrong with songs/albums about satan? :hiding:

Nothing wrong with that specifically (I've played in a blackened death metal band). I just hate this occult fad crap like Ancient VVisdom, or bands like Ghost. Honestly don't understand how Ghost is so popular in "our" circle. That new Year Zero song makes me want to laugh and throw up at the same time.

+1, the I am the blackest of black, pure heart of evil, like those idiots who think they are Vampires, the hippy thing too, I have to look a certain way and buy certain clothes, then how can you pretend you are so free, alright off of my soapbox, I still love that guy who called the death metal bands Panda Metal lol

Alright it's settled, going to check out this band tonight. My guitar buddy says they described themselves as punk and hardcore like misfits/ramones but they want to add in some anthrax/black sabbath elements and make the music heavier. Also they want to play the venue up the street from me in about a month and want me to learn 13 easy songs. Sounds like fun...

Edit: Looks at the thread title... I believe this is prophecy.

Mine would probably be primer... haha

Sweet! Thanks to Sam one of our songs will be played on the radio in Ottawa tonight :)

Grats man, you've gone international now. :p

Semi-serious question for the Canadians... if it's been asked before sorry I'm too lazy to search... What's the music scene look like up there? Anything on the radio that might not fit the american pallate? Just wondering how another country would generalize it's pop music.

Would anybody know why my record player all of a sudden is playing music out of the needle??

Dusted it off and broke out some of my aunt's old records and I could hear a faint distraction while music was playing... turned down the speakers completely and yes, its faintly playing the record through the needle itself. I can close the lid and it doesnt bother but its weird. I finally got (most) of the AM radio noise out of the signal, now this.

By the way, INXS's old album Kick seems like it'd be a great album to bang to.

Well, we have CANCON up here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_content
Basically it means that a large percentage of music that stations play must be by Canadian artists. This results in a lot of crappy songs getting a huge amount of undeserved airplay. It works both ways though too I guess. Support for great musicians that might not get the same chance in the US.

Dirty needle/record maybe? My old record player my parents had always played out of the needle... it was really dusty though. If it's not pretty new try cleaning it well and if that doesn't work maybe get a new needle. Basically the dust/dirt can go along the same groove as the needle and causes a ghosting effect. If it's not that... if it isn't too bad it might just be normal.

Interesting, I'll have to check it out for fun. I tend to go on and on about american music and trends but I'm always curious what other countries are listening to.
