I dont think it was messed up, it just didn't sound great with flatwounds, which all my basses had at the time.

well the cool thing is the master volume can be clicked on or off. switch it off and the gain acts as a single volume. switch it on and its a regular gain/volume amp. so with it on i can turn the master down and crank the gain, anything above about 12 gets into sputtery distortion and from 10-11 its quite grindy. that usable clean range is REALLY toneful! this one has had a cap mod to tame the high end that morgans are known for. sounds good!

well....i might be selling the orange, but old crow has first dibs if i do and if he wants it.... i just sold my fender 1200, no... make that "i got robbed!". I am seriously thinking i should sell another amp since im not gonna be playin out for a while, but i really like what ive got, and im not starving at the moment. Im pretty sure im gonna sell off a stingray HH too.

On a totally unrelated topic...
As some of you may have read 20-30 pages ago I want on pedal purchasing earlier this week... Welp I received my Endangered Audio Gristleizer & Organizer and plugged em in today without the rest of the board to test them.
So for what it's worth here are my thoughts:
Initially I plugged my Kaosillator into the Gristleizer.... It was amazing, whether doing ring modulation on the VCA or getting dirty on the VCF it really had a lot of potential. So when i plugged my bass into it... It's pretty much anything I could ever want from a synth. I've never had a ring modulator but it's pretty cool, and very well could replace a delay. I'm really excited to hear what it can do with some dirt especially the orbit and with the xerograph.
The organizer is definitely very cool, and does the whole organ thing way better than I could ever achieve on my HOG. The real fun came with the interplay btwn the 2. Honestly I don't know what's cooler running organ sounds into the synth, or making dirty synthy organ sounds....
So, aside from testing everything I've established that I'm going to be spending a fair amount of time figuring out an ideal signal path before I rewire the whole thing back up.
Maybe my ratking will come tomorrow!

anyone know people who do cool ****ing metal etching designs or is talented enough to etch a design of my choosing? I have seen some cool ones in the fx forum on pedals.
I'm getting a custom metal (none of those chrome plated plastic stuff) treble pup cover for my 4001 and I want cthulhu etched into it. no ****.

dann dubblewe for etching...he's done some real cool pedals and is working on a "special project" for me right now.
fatherfire: the JGR is awesome, i play it a good bit, i love what it does, its a killer hefty preamp tone with great drive tones. when i got it i only had 90 lb tube amps for tubeyness... now i have three tube amps 50 lbs or under. so IF i get another band going it may not get much stage time except to just "keep it in the rotation", but i dont know if i could ever sell it. i waited a year for it, and i would be HARD pressed to get one again. PLUS its really cool have something made by a guy i know and like and got to hang with. Jonathan wants to do an update to the circuit which does sound like a good tweak soon.. so....

This may be alittle stupid of me to ask, but I was just asked to play in a death/black metal band, and don't know if I know how to play that kind of bass other than what the guitars are playing? The guy always says I'm " pretty beast on bass", but I don't know if he's just looking for someone to fill in the lows. I do like Alex Webster cause he's a beast on bass, but is there a different way(tone, technique, bass harmonizing with guitars, chords, etc.) to play than doom? I know they don't want just a root/riff follower. I expect flames, atleast vapors.But would appreciate insight more.
With the guys I play with I ride the root most of the time. There's a few songs where the chords change but the root stays the same - I try to play the note that changes to accentuate the dissonance. It's also gunna depend if you're playing in some kind of vltra kvlt raw grvm black metal band or not.
Nothing new really, a lot of people in the thread have one and love it. I had one and hated it, but my setup was quite different and I was looking for a different sound at the time. When I played flats 100% of the time it sounded muddy and sputtery. Now I go for a slightly brighter tone and have flats on one bass only. The RT really shines in my setup now. Aggressive mean distortion, loses some low end compared to the Bluebeard but not as much as the Oh See Demon. Bluebeard into the RT sounded really gnarly. Pretty damn awesome. Hopefully the clips came out ok. If not I'll try again on Saturday.
I've been looking at the rat-world for a while and Ryan's seem to be the most bass friendly. Since I have the MS coming I decided to let my tube over drive of go and check out a distortion / rat. I also think the feedback mod is pretty sweet. Well see how it goes.
I vote to go bigger, no one will be able to see "Tiny Cthulthu".
I say go whole hog and get a full length Chtulhu on the whole fretboard. In red LEDs. With Green LEDs for eyes.
Hmm ok, well sounds like my El Oso has that ground covered, except it doesn't lose low end.
+1. I'm still loving mine. No GAS for fuzz pedals, although there are plenty of cool looking ones out there.
