For THAT price? Doesn't seem likely. Parts of it might be from a 64 or it could be a scam. Unless the whole back side is burnt off or hollowed out or something, I've never seen a 64 Jazz bass in that kind of condition go for that little. Doesn't smell right to me, but maybe the person just really needs some crack.

i've asked for more pictures and serial number. It's worth investigating.

I use one, my Ampeg B2R is as sterile sounding as Ampeg gets, so I use the OBD-3 with the blend almost all the way dry to get some tube like grit out of the SS amp. I normally just leave it on the whole time when playing stoner/doom or any rock and I leave it off for funk, slap, and the other weird stuff I do.

That All Good Fest looked pretty sweet! I haven't been to Legend Valley/Buckeye lake since the early 90's. I saw G-n-R/Aerosmith, Metallica and I think the WOMAD fest was there. Really cool place if I remember correctly.

You and me both Sam, did you see the post I made last night? I was looking at that same LPB Jazz in the classifieds. Fender Standards (MIM) come in LPC, no matching headstock though.

That "64" Jazz might be a 64 RI NOS model. They go for about that price, I think. People on craigslist often list RI models as the year of the reissue. "CHECK OUT THIS ALL ORIGINAL 62 PRECISION BASS!!", etc.

I've been building a LPB Jazz bass with matching headstock, with a gloss black single ply pickguard, every month on Warmoth for the past year. That Atomic Bitchwax video definitely flared up my GAS big time. If I could find a 64 RI one within my budget, I'd buy it today.

See what the prices are for either at fancy dealers like Chicago Music Exchange.

Plus they usually have a pretty pimp vintage collection.

I almost ordered my SB4000 in Blue Mist actually. The second place choice before I ordered was Blue Mist, matching headstock, maple board, black pickguard and chrome hardware.

It's not quite Lake Placid Blue though. If they had something that matched that look closer, I probably would have got it. I got obsessed with that finish a few years ago, I dunno why.
