Got an email from Zzounds regarding effects. Not sure if it is limited to guitar only effects but saving 15% could be nice for some of you. Thought I would share. You have to call before 07/22 to get the deal. (no affiliation with this company)

Be sure you get the best price by calling 1-800-ZZOUNDS (1-800-996-8637)
Don't forget to mention your unique code when you call: GUITARFX

So now that my SVT has been out of commission for two weeks my Peavey Mark VIII isn't as awesome for $100 as I thought it was. Maybe the SVT has spoiled me but even throwing my Sans Amp BDDI in front of it I had a hard time getting any tone I liked. It's got plenty of screaming mids but feels like its neutered in terms of lows. Maybe it's just a volume issue I'm not sure.

Anyways, any suggestions on a cheap backup amp? I might just keep my eyes open for an old cheap (lol) Sunn SS head like what Dixie uses. I've also heard good things about the old GKs but I don't know anything about the brand.

I know a guy with a Sunn Coliseum 300 if you're interested. Those heads are plenty brutal and can do 2 ohm.

Oh and for those unfamiliar with my rig I need to be able to do 2 ohms!
The GK amps won't do 2 ohms.

I originally bought my 700RB-II as a backup and have been really happy with it. It's not too far from what I like about my ampeg, plus if I want it to, it's got better headroom for when I really want to have huge lows.

It took a lot of fighting to get an acceptable tone and my guitarists still hate it. They feel like the entire vibe of our band is off without the SVT lol.

Yeah, that happened to me and my band when I got rid of my old 810 about a year and a half ago and traded it for a Schroeder 1515L. Destroyed the vibe. I ended up with a better 810 in the end, but yeah... It sucked for a while.

so lets talk about fuzz again. im a huge fan of the bluebeard, still the best fuzz pedal ive ever used and ive tried many. sounds amazing for bass and guitar as well. with my super rig the plan is to get my SVT stack running the bluebeard, my Sunn stack running another fuzz, and then im gonna have one cab running "clean" with my Acoustic 370. so ive been testing some other fuzzes, everyone talks about the supercollider. i was insanely disappointed in this pedal. now it was a newer one, maybe his older ones were made differently, but i thought it was lacking on fuzz and more of an overdrive pedal that was more mid range. i also tried a musket V2 and i was very impressed, so i think ill be snagging one of those. a lot of control on the musket, very bassy but still defined, and sounded super thick.

has anyone else been disappointed with the supercollider? i always see praise for it and i was not a fan.
