stoner/doom bassist thread part 2: suspicious smoke

Hi all!
A little new here to TB. I am a drummer that has been picking up bass and having a blast.
I saw this thread on Stoner / Doom and had to take a look.
I guess when I think of Stoner and Doom rock, I think of a few things. I think of Lowrider's (Swedish) album, Ode to lo. (great one album band), Melvin's album Lysol. Eyehategod's album Confederacy of Ruined Lives.
I have always been a big fan of metal in general. One one my first albums that I bought by fluke was Black Sabbath's' Vol. 4. That was it for me. I was hooked. I still love that album and sound. I think I was eleven or twelve.
Growing up in Florida, I would travel to Tampa to see some of my favorite bands like, Gwar, Obituary, Slayer, Entombed and so on. But that Sabbath sound feels so good when you hear it. I have had a hard time tracking down bands that consistently kick out original sounding stoner / doom metal. I mean I like listening to bands like Nebula, Fu Manchu, or The Sword, but they end up falling short for me. They might have one promising album, but then fall off the wagon down the road. Oh well... that's music for ya.
Anyway.. Good to see others digging the good stuff.

If you are still in the Tampa area, you should check out my friend's band Party Time. They aren't Doom, they are more thrashy. But, they know how to bring the party.
I live in Seattle now. FL is way too hot for me. I like all the clouds and rain here. I feel at home. But thanks.

My band was offered a Thursday night show in October and we're trying to book a show for that Friday (to make the financial hit less). We're from Mass and would be willing to help whoever else with a show up here.

Look up both Hull and Batillus and see if either would be willing to play with you or if they know anyone that would want to. Tell them Billows sent you.

Not sure how doom it is, but it's stoner as hell: Snail. I've only got one of their records (Blood), but I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Anyone else dig them?
Oh yeah, I felt the quake. I work in an office that's about 20-30 feet underground beneath a large manufactoring facilty. Everything seemed to have a slight side to side sway for a few seconds, I thought I was getting dizzy or something. Needless to say, the thought of all that concrete overhead was pretty doomy.
I felt it in Ottawa. I'm on the 7th floor of a building, it was very gentle and subtle, everyone just started feeling a little dizzy.
Ottawa?!!! WOW!... i live about 50 miles from where it was epicentered and its sooo weird to think it travelled that far!
Our manager contacted them. I also found you on ye olde book of face! Good stuff!
