I might become a supporting member, even if it's just for a short period of time.
I need to get a stoner/doom band going. Some people find it amusing because I'm edge. What's wrong with wanting to groove some slow jams?

Nothing wrong with it. Just be aware than many of your soon to be fans are not going to be Edge.

I feel ya. Same here. Just be tolerant of those around you...especially in this genre. I'm the only person i know in this scene that doesn't partake in any of the 'extra-curricular'
My singer and two guitarists do not partake. Just because it's called stoner rock doesn't mean that tag has to be associated with it. I find a lot of times when I tell "adults" I'm in a stoner rock band they roll their eyes and make all these predetermined assumptions, but then when I have them listen to it they really like it.
I'd say one of the best things about this genre is the level of maturity and mutual respect for each other. We don't care who you are, how you look, what you do or how you sound, as long as it's heavy and grooves!

I was just telling my buddy, almost, the exact same thing. My band felt we didn't need to play a main rhythm 8 times through. I told them that my recent influences say otherwise. Hell, Dragonaut only has about 3 or 4 different parts to it.

Haha. One of the main writing methods of our newer songs has been "play this riff 4 times with vocals, then play it 4 times without then play the next one."

Some of our songs were a little rushed but the next batch won't be. We could use more riffs per song. My new trick is also repeating vocals. Man am I lazy, LOL

agreed, it took me 2 and half years to finally meet the guys that eventually formed Monobrow.
If I get a band going, we're playing some shows together! I'm going back to school (part-time) in September. Hopefully I can find some dudes (or gals) to jam with.
