My Ibanez RB950 showed up today. One of the most comfortable, easiest to play basses I've ever picked up. This thing is super fast and it thunders like hell. Can't wait to try it out with my rig. I'm tempted to leave the round wounds on here as they feel pretty good, but chromes are kind of my thing and I have a spare set laying around so I think I'm going to swap them tonight.

Neck reminds me of a ric. Thin and fast but still feels sturdy. Pickups are two quadracoil humbuckers which sound monstrous. There is an rb924 in cherry burst on eBay right now. Same bass with P/J pickups. That's the one I originally saw the bassist of Neurosis with which turned me on to this bass.

Thanks! The pickups are actually Ibanez Super J6's. Ibanez used to make a lot of their own pickups and they all sounded awesome. They are now starting to use their own pickups in more of their basses (see some of the modern production SRXs) and they do a very good job. the Super J6's were used in some of the Musicians, Destroyers, Roadstars, etc.

Next week when I get a chance I'll head out to the practice space and do a little recording. I've been meaning to do that anyways as I've never really shown off my BassBombs and think a lot of people here would like them.

so Ive never done a "New Bass Day" posting cos, well.. i dunno. But strangely Im actually REALLY excited about getting this one. Which is also probably the CHEAPEST bass Ive owned in 10 years or more. BUT it is soooo what Ive been looking for. Im a Stingray fan. Ive got a SLO and a mid 90's mute bridge Stingray. Ive always wanted a passive Ray but didnt wanna lay down the 2K for a Pre-EB model cos its kinda against my wallet morals. So I FINALLY found a good condition PASSIVE SUB!!! I put a new pickguard and strings on it, gave it a good set up and DAYUM-SON!!!! This will probably be my new go-to bass!

Jason that bass is awesome! I totally dig how the black body contrasts the chrome PG/cavity plate/bridge it looks killer! I really like Stingrays but with my ATK I've never been able to justify getting one.

As far as BC Rich's, they are very cool basses and sound awesome, but the ones I like are all in the $1k+ range and I'm not in the position to spend like that. Beebassdude from The Osedax rocks a Mockingbird that I think is awesome looking, but he has to put a 2 lbs strap weight at the bottom of his strap to keep the head stock from trying to eat the floor. I'm not a big fan of neck dive.

Love the new toys!

Played with the band Link Removed last night. I couldn't recommend them enough, just a fantastic band. Coincidentally, I play in a ZZ Top tribute band with their singer/guitarist.

I guess I was just curious on the "coolness" factor of them cause of my old NJ Warlock 4 string that I bought in the late 80's-early 90's. I think it's pretty doomy, but not too "edgey" looking(like most Rich's). Plus, the headstock is more like a LP 2+2, than their more recent pointy ones. I put some really nice Schaller tuning machines when I bought it. I thought it might be cool to fix it up with some nice electronics, and nicer hardware for myself, but didn't know if it would be like bringing "the Mothman to a church function" -type look in this scene.
