Good idea, though they seem more inclined to keep releasing new products and just do the occasional "reissue" at a high markup. So I can't really see this happening. I'm perfectly fine with PCB amps, as long as they're well designed and laid out, without cheap components or board mounted tube sockets. I used to have one of the first PCB Hiwatt guitar heads and it sounded great. Same as the tube vs solid state thing, there's nothing inherently better or worse about point to point vs PCB, there's plenty of poorly and wonderfully designed and executed amps of each type.

yea highly unlikely they would do this. For high volume companies the only thing they can do is PCB, it just is not feasible to pay a large # of builders to handwire amps unless you want to decrease output and increase cost significantly. Nothing wrong with PCB amps, just look at the guts of any Soldano, they are extremely well built PCB amps

The only inherent advantage to handwiring amps (regardless of its it PTP, turrets, eyelets) is the ease of teching and replacing components. Its generally easier to unsolder things on a handwired board. Of course a ****** made amp is a ****** made amp either way

Well, sort of. There are definitely some good builders out there. But for every good builder out there you can probably name another horrible one who screwed over customers. It's amazing how some people run their "business."

That said, if you know where to look there's people who can build you just about anything.

ahh im pretty familiar with a # of good amp builders, not many who build for this kind of crowd specifically. There just isnt many of us out there (Verellen, EA, Me, eventually Emperor).
