Guilty. I don't know much about their catalogue. It's one of those bands that everyone is supossed to love, but I don't. For whatever reason, I would rather listen to The Who (or even U2 for that matter) than the Beatles.

Call me crazy. I just don't dig them. :rollno:

Well, I have played it like 5 minutes and it sounded farty on an open E. I've never bought new cabs before are they supposed to sound farty for a bit until broken in? I might use the bareface website speaker break in frequency thing.

I have the GK warranty and for now the 30 day GC warranty.

But for the record, that peavey head is sweet. I am using a longhorn bass in standard so it's not much for sludge this second.

It's like clock work, every month or 2 one will snap, it's always the E or A string when in standard tuning, and they always break right by the bridge. I play with my finger mostly and a pick sometimes. Could it be bad setup? Or am I just Thor and hammer too hard?

Never broke a string in my life, and I used to play about as hard as I physically could and I don't use heavy gauge strings.

So, ditto to the recommendations about checking for burrs in your saddle grooves.

My cabs were never farty, but I thought Carvin broke them in...don't quote me on that.
It couldn't hurt to try to break them in a little. The cabs should handle that head no problem.

get another switch installed that allows you to change the phase! that would be cool.

in regards to the ATK talk in the previous thread, i used to play one for years and years. picked one up for 500NZD (cheap then!) and played it for years, until the upgrade to 4001.

I've broken two. One was while stretching a string, right after changing them. The other was on my friend's bass, and it was really weird, because I barely touched it and it snapped.

It's especially odd because normally I play really hard.

I used to break strings on one bass I had with a used schaller roller bridge. It was either the bridge, or the fact that I was using ernie ball strings. I think I broke an elixir once too though.

Since switching to DR, no breakage.
