Stoner/Doom Bassist Thread Part 6

I don't know if I'm just getting stir crazy from not having gigged in awhile or what, but I'm now toying with the idea of a new cab. I like my BassBombs but I feel like I want to get rid of them because I think Tim is a scum bag. That might be stupid but I don't know...

Not even sure what I would be interested in. I think I'm just being dumb haha.

Well I'm continuing my search for a drummer, my roommate won't be able to get a drumset anymore, or at least not for awhile. And all of my drummer friends either aren't interested or don't have drums as well.

Guys think I need to add anything else?

You might want to dial back the bit of aggressive tone you wrote this with. I don't fault you for feeling the way you wrote but at the same time, to any random stranger that may be a perfect fit for you, they may read that and think "That guy sounds like a dick" and never respond. I would just put some influences of what you are aiming for and that you would want other people with similar influences or interests. If you have to weed out a few via e-mail it's not the end of the world and only a few minutes of your time.

I toke some aggression out, but left some in there, I dont want to waste my time with some speed metal head with a line 6 combo and a Jackson guitar tuned to drop z...Milwaukee has plenty of those. I love doom and some classic metal, but I cant stand crappy metal.

My $0.02 is not to put anything to exclude people like your comment about the ill-equipped guitarists. If they have the right attitude and fit well then that's 90% of the battle. They can always buy more suitable gear if things work out. When I first met my guitarist I jammed through a 60 watt Hartke combo and he used a 5 watt epiphone valve jr. and improvised over funkadelic tunes.

It's a small scene as it is, why limit yourself? You don't need to crush them with your wall of fuzz on the first date.

Excellent points...

Except for the fact that I don't have a quiet rig...hence my search for a smaller cab. Also the finding a guitarist part isn't my priority, I'm mainly looking for a drummer. I wanna try out the 2 piece doom first and if a guitarist comes along that works out, perfect.

This was the point I was trying to make. My "rig" for a few years used to be a ****** Behringer BX3000T (like 175W RMS) into a Hartke 2.5XL cab (210 with a tweeter) and that's what I had when I joined a pretty gnarly blackened death metal band. They let me jam with a loud practice rig. Got my tax return realized I needed something bigger and got a SVT-3 Pro with a SVT 610HLF and everything was all good. My playing was a very good fit for the band. If they had turned me away because of the rig I had at the time they would have missed out.

Still, not be a smart ass, but your amp has a volume knob regardless how big your cab is you don't have to play loud. The important thing is meeting like minded musicians that can contribute to the music.

IME, it takes a lot to be the front man of a 2 man group. I tried it for all of about 2 practices. The bass lines I write are perfect for complementing a soloing Les Paul (or should I say I need a les paul to complement my basslines). My hat's off to bands like OM and Black Cobra That not only do it, but do it right.

Monobrow, I just now listened to your band for the first time and all I can say...pure heavy awesome. Why didn't I listen earlier? I've been missing out!

The entire CL ad was supposed to be read with some sense of humor, nothing too serious, just plain old heavy doom fun. If this ad doesn't get too many responses Ill change it when I repost it in a couple days...
