Stoner/Doom Bassist Thread Part 8 - Insert witty title...

I love that new band smell!

Laz: we've been on a bit of a hiatus since like Oct. We played a show back then after SHOD, and then our drummer, who has a family with like 3 kids was in the middle of finalizing the sale of his house and moving.. so we played like one show from Dec. thru February... and since then he has been devoting his time to his other band that is going to Roadburn in a few weeks... so we wont even get together until the end of next month.... its been driving us nuts, thats why we started another project, which is shaping up nicely and quick!

That's cool eyeball. Not being able to play very often gets really frustrating, and playing new stuff is always fun.

Jeff I'm pretty set on the Greenboy Dually design. With the composite build the 215 will be able to be carried with one hand... I've also talked to the guy I'm inquiring to build me one (Mike Arnopol of Audiokinesis, authorized fEarful builder). He is super nice and very knowledgeable. Talking to him on the phone sold me on having him as a builder.

My knowledge in cab design and speakers is really limited. I've been reading the Greenboy forums and apparently there are two recommended speakers to use in the Dually. After reading some johnk posts and talking to Mike I think I'll go with the Faitals. Have you had Mike start yours yet? I'll probably wait until my next paycheck. Still deciding on what color I want to use!

I believe the 3015s are more efficient/ capable of more volume with less wattage. Also a little more punchy with more low mids and less highs. The Faitals are supposed to be more vintage voiced. Don't take my word on it though, that's just what I believe I've read.

I've communicated with BarryAudio about these and on the Greenboy site. I'd probably go with the 3015s myself, with separate ins and outs for each speaker (in case I'm in biamp distortion type mode). I'm not ordering one yet, there's so much gear I covet that I need to wait it out sometime to make sure I'm thinking straight.

I'd go with a dark green and black, would look cool with the new logo, too!!

Thanks for your input on the speakers. Now I may be more interested in the 3015s. To be honest I haven't looked into it much yet, but it sounds like the 3015s are more up my alley. I will likely do the cab in 4 ohm, under the ridiculous pretense that there would be a possibility of running 2 of them down the road with my SVT-VR... :D

And I was thinking maybe Lucky Green!

Again, thinking similarly to me. Although I'm thinking a Traynor YBA300 and two of these a little down the line...

The time has come and I need input on color for a bass. Close call between black, classic white, 3tone sunburst, and ferrari red. Also up for question is fretboard options and hardware combinations. Once I have settled, I'll be ordering a new Carvin SB4000 chambered body. Also, getting a second Carvin BR115 cab for the stack and a 1spot power supply.

Hey Eyeball, how does the 100T compare with the 300 Pro for tone and overdrive? .

Its kinda similar kinda different...it has the fender tone stack so it can be much more bassy or bright in range easier..but I can get a tone easily that's very similar to what I like about my 300. The 300 stays clean unless you dial in OD, but that's preamp dirt, the 100t gets that nice touch dynamic drive from.the.power section that just RIPS! Seriously, I am in love with the way this thing breaks up in a high gained out body, without the high gain fizzle. Ever see Buffalo 66? That scene with the yes song where he kills the Guy in the bar that has that smoking bass line? Its just that yummy and notched up a little.....im gonna get it check out, but I think ive got a new giggin amp...which amazes me that its 100Watts.

I think the 300 has more thump and bump with a little grit on top, kinda open and present, and the 100 is more like how the v4 is with a ZOOOOONG in the noted that just oozes magic dirt. Reminds me of the who.

Rustimate for the New OG/cover band board

Either the DOD or SFT is going to get cut per checking stuff out at home but the gig this Sat will decide. What ever looses will probably be replaced with a Phaser.
