Stoner/Doom Bassist Thread Part 8 - Insert witty title...

Are u running the SFT at 18v ever? I just got one and I'm liking it better than any OD pedal I've used but have only been able to use 9v

Since the ISO 5 has a dedicated 18v I am currently using it with the SFT. All I really am noticing is that it's louder with the volume knob turned up less and you "lose" some gain. Now you can look at that and say 18v makes it cleaner which one person may like, just not this guy ;). Running the SFT and DOD on the same board, they are quite similar. The SFT sounding just a tad smoother with the settings you see in the pic I posted. Funny thing turning up the gain more on the SFT doesn't do much but muddy it up a bit. Also turning up the bass from where it's at I notice instead of getting "more bass" it just gets kinda dark and muddy sounding. Funny so far the DOD is I'm the lead and it costs a 1/3 almost compared to the SFT. Granted this is all IMO and thru my little rig.

That's cool eyeball. Not being able to play very often gets really frustrating, and playing new stuff is always fun.

Jeff I'm pretty set on the Greenboy Dually design. With the composite build the 215 will be able to be carried with one hand... I've also talked to the guy I'm inquiring to build me one (Mike Arnopol of Audiokinesis, authorized fEarful builder). He is super nice and very knowledgeable. Talking to him on the phone sold me on having him as a builder.

Hey Laz, no joke I'm worried about your rig being top heavy.

The time has come and I need input on color for a bass. Close call between black, classic white, 3tone sunburst, and ferrari red. Also up for question is fretboard options and hardware combinations. Once I have settled, I'll be ordering a new Carvin SB4000 chambered body. Also, getting a second Carvin BR115 cab for the stack and a 1spot power supply.

In the words of Henry Ford on the Model T..."You can have it any color you want, as long as it's black."

With all the talk of bridging your guy's SVT's, I tried it out with my Peavey Standard. WOW, there is a fullness to the sound. Plus I can blend the clean channel with the distortion and reverb channel.

So I got two pedals today from some trading. A 85 reissue Rat and a Turbo Rat w/lm308 chip.... I'm pretty sure they are gonna get a LOT of use. I think the turbo is gonna be my low gain and the reissue my over the top pedal. I have quite a sweet collection of dirt pedals: Mojo Hand Colossus Fuzz, Black Russian Muff, Turbo Rat, Reissue White Rat, Catalinbread SFT, Boss DS-1. Now what do I need???

85 is not a reissue, it's real deal. Just a smaller box.
