Have you tried the bluebeard with the vr? I wonder how that would sound added in. I think tomorrow I'm gonna start moving gear to my house so I can run my big amp again. I got a great sound with my practice amp finally but I'm sure all the pedals are gonna sound way different through the electric amp. I'm very curious how the SFT is gonna sound through a tube amp. I tried it on 18v today and love it for a mild OD. I threw the turbo rat after it and it is like a chainsaw on crack.

I have ran the bluebeard with the VR. With the CL it was an always on pedal. With the VR since I already have a bunch of drive, I use the bluebeard for the "hey this is the really fuzzed out guitar bass unison part".

Every night when the family goes to sleep and once every couple of weeks with my band. But i look forward to the day I'm too busy playing to post on tb.

So I bridged the channels on the SVT-VR tonight. Ran channel 1 with my mids cranked pretty good as well as the bass turned up a decent amount and dialed the master volume back a bit. Ran the second channel with bass and treb dialed back and turned the master up pretty good. What resulted after that was godly! I'm getting some real nice tube drive from the second channel without getting too boomy, and I'm able to EQ what kind of tone I'm looking for in the first channel. I am so glad I bought this amp. It gets along great with the humbuckers in my Roadster. This is the happiest I've ever been with my tone, and that's without any pedals.

Also, we had the new singer with the whole band tonight. He had temporary lyrics written so he could practice with us as we were working on songs. A proactive singer!!! So now we have 5 members. Everyone has great gear, a job, a car, and a great personality. I can't believe how well this band has come together. I may have some raw tracks for you guys from tonight. We're really happy with how the songs are coming along, but this one song we have is an incredible face melter. I wrote the main riff (I don't typically do a lot of writing) and it is sooooo freaking heavy. I love a good practice.

Also, I think I have someone to buy my the Magma. Since everything sounded so awesome tonight now I'm a little hesitant about pulling the trigger on a Greenboy Dually, but I'm pretty confident Mike will make me an incredible 215. Plus a 215 that you can carry with one hand is still really interesting me!

Anyways, blog over. I'm on cloud 9 from practice.

The old Peavey topped the B2R tonight. Kept channel two clean to punch through the guitar, and maxed the built in distortion on channel one with just enough reverb for a quite Om-ish tone. Then I dialed in a good balance between the two for a distorted but clear tone, sounds perfect. Except, the previous owner redid the tolex in this bland beige color. If I'm going to use this head as my main stag, that needs to change. I'm thinking a bright red to match the Sunn logo on my cab. Also, I may see if I can catch a deal on a Sunn slave amp, because the Peavey is only 160 watts, just to be on the safe side for...

This...I forgot to mention that my guitar player finally brought in his half stack. A screaming, 130 watt, tube Carvin and a Randall 4x12. Before he was using this piece, Peavey, Line 6 impersonator, combo. We sound f'in HUGE now. We couldn't stop laughing and smiling it sounded so good, it was truly an amazing moment. He kept fiddling around with the knobs, saying "It sounds so weird. Does it sound weird?", and I replied "I think that's because it finally sounds good!" We had to pay tribute to Black Sabbath because I had my P bass and he had his SG, and they created what we all play now.

Had a great night if I do say so myself.

In other news, practiced with my AIC tribute last night for the first time in 4-5 months. Man, it's like riding a bike. I used my 4-string for the first time in awhile as well (been using fives and sixes a lot lately) and that was pretty fun too.


Also, I'm selling my Eden WP100 preamp. Any takers?

Looks like a 192 kbps MP3 version has leaked which is a rip from the NPR stream. I didn't like the first song that was linked here very much but that last one was pretty good.

We're on more of the stoner side of this thread, so I feel we did no wrong.


Our music makes me feel so happy, wait, or is that the greenery...but really, have you guys ever just had that "this sounds perfect, I can't believe I'M the one playing this, I dont want to stop" feeling? I must have got a triple dose last night, my ears are still ringing a bit.

Sometimes when I’m reading/posting in this thread I feel like I’m from a different world than some of you guys. I don’t actively search out new bands. I don’t go to shows. Out of all the great stoner/doom bands my favorite is still Clutch (which is pretty much a blues band now-a-days). My favorite bassist is Trevor Dunn. I don’t drink or smoke. I keep selling all of my tube amps. Etc.
But whenever I pick up the bass…

Whenever I try to write some music…

Whenever I’m jamming with friends…

…this style of music is all that comes out and I can say with no ego that I can write one hell of a riff. So I stick around because I want to share my love of playing this style of music with you all but I’m sad that I don’t have anything cool to share on a regular basis.

Edit: This is not a pity party or anything like that. I'm just feeling a little weird today and felt like saying something about myself.

You and I are in the same boat on most of those counts father of fires. I don't drink or smoke, don't really look for new bands that much, never go to shows that I'm not playing unless it's that once a year thing for one of my favorite bands (even then...). I play this music all the time, but I don't really have much to share most of the time, since I find it impossible to get a band going and the ones I do don't really do that much or are of a different style. I do play in a doom metal band (Cold Mourning), but we've played one show and released 1 single on a comp in the 2 years I've been in the band. I do a lot more with my punk/grindcore band Mental Waste, recording wise, but we don't play shows. I want to play stoner rock and doom metal all the time and tour and record constantly, but as I live in a small town and I'm over 30 there's just not that much chance of it ever happening unless I move to a big city or I really luck out. Been trying for 12 years so far.

I do like the social atmosphere of this thread/group though, everyone here is cool and I do read about some new bands that I enjoy from time to time. Oh, and I love Clutch. I'm pretty sure they were my last "once a year for my favorites" show actually.
