Stoner/Doom Bassist Thread Part 8 - Insert witty title...

I've heard the new HOF...did nothing for me. Thought the 4th song was good till about half way through. It sounds like Al Jourgensen produced it. Not for me but maybe I've had a shift in musical tastes. Decide for yourselves...

I'd love to see Pissed Jeans live, great band. For me it's just a combination of there not being any good shows in my area, they're usually several hours drive on a week night, and a little social anxiety/general grumpiness.

Pissed Jeans are great live. They're all working stiffs who do this for kicks and make fun of the crusty hipsters in the audience saying stuff like, "everyone in this room has parents who love them" in the most condescending tone possible yet everyone still cheers them on. Then they go into a song about how much they love ice cream.

I'm listening to that song right now. I like Pissed Jeans for their sound alone, because of the obvious Black Flag influence, but the whole "it's hilarious how seriously you're taking us" attitude they have is a great bonus.

I'm so glad someone else gets it. My buddy follows them pretty closely and makes sure we see them when they're in town.

I dont go to to many shows, unless it's one of my favorite bands...I'm actually seeing a singer songwriter I like tomorrow night in Madison, WI, his name is William Fitzsimmons. I highly recommend him, if you you guys have a lighter acoustic side. But I dont really like shows all that much, just because it reminds me that I could be up there and then I get jealous because I want to play. Its a lot more fun on the stage.

I dont listen to to many new bands. I listen to a lot of different types of music, and if I'm not listening to music, or working, I'm practicing. Advancing my techniques, I've recently been working on fast triplets, double thumping, just using my single pointer finger. Next I plan on working on making my ring finger work more interdependently, then I'll add my pinky finger for FOUR FINGERS OF FURY! And as always, I work on my speed for slapping, I can slap just not consistently fast. I watched a skills demonstration video with John Entwistle and I would love to learn his tapping technique.

There is another band which, funny enough, also has a name that was used by a boy band and sounds similar to North. One of my favorite, most underrated albums of all time. 5ive - Hesperus

This is sweet dude. All instrumental? Too bad about the terrible name. I'm irritated by band names with numbers in them for some reason.

Good call on Summoner too. You have to wade through a lot of **** to find good stuff. You saved me some time.
