Stoner/Doom Bassists 53: Loud Noises

I will need an executive summary from someone. no YT at work and my phone isn't working.

It's the syrup chugging contest scene from supertroopers. :bassist:

Sort of. Noah is their front man and also plays guitar on some songs. He is traveling Asia for work right now and they're not sure when he'll be back. Steve has been pulling guitar + vox duty and did a great job of it this weekend. Unfortunately because of the vocals and guitar harmonies they haven't figured out a good way to play my favorite song yet (Grab the Reins).

Oh okay, that makes complete sense cause I thought their lead singer / guitarist looked completely different then the guy in the pic, all though he did look very familiar. I was curious though cause I saw / played with them at SHOD 2011 and well you know how I roll at shows, so my memory might not have been the greatest.

Sam, If you were gonna go with a dual OSD pedal I can see having one "stock" and the other being the LED modded being useful. They're pretty similar, but just have a slightly different feel to them. The stock is a little thicker and meaner sounding, the LED is more natural, less compressed. Would be a nice mix IMO.

and to your other question, Yes I did watch game of thrones yesterday.

thanks Ron, just got to replenish the toy fund first. Also trying to get a Whetsone so the OSD's will have to wait if I end up getting that.

Good episode of GoT, took me a while to remember what the hell was going on.

Also pretty good season finale of Walking Dead. A little surprised by who died (don't want to spoil it for anyone).

Good Sunday night TV overall.

Yeah definitely don't spoil any walking dead. Didn't get a chance to watch that yet. I'll be doing so after work.

GoT was good, little slow, but generally the first episode of the season is. Definitely seems like it's gonna be a good season though.

Any Doctor Who fans here? pretty excited about this new season so far (well second half of this new season).

Love Teles with Strat necks/headstocks!!!

As do I! Must be a Virginia thing. This isn't exactly a Tele... but it's a close enough.

Ha ha must be. Man that is gorgeous!!! I don't really like tele necks, cosmetics and nut width. Why I think I dig my Peavey Reactor so much. I think my next 6 string will be a franken tele strat, either a strat style neck on a tele body with two humbuckers, or if I can find a hardtail strat body with two humbuckers, I don't like tremolo bars.

Thanks!!! I love tele necks personally (and teles in general, got 1 tele custom and 2 parts built telemasters), specifically maple fretboard ones. They play so fast and smooth, makes me wish my Tele custom came with a big strat headstock like the Tele Deluxes did. Strat neck on a dual HB tele would be sick, look for a squier tele deluxe body, they came with standard sized humbuckers instead of the larger MIM WRHB clones like the fenders. Finding hardtail strat bodies can be a challenge, but if you find a HH hardtail grab it!!! I hate tremolo's as well, I've never used one or had a use for one.

Most of his guitars (especially the teles) are Warmoth builds he has done himself. I think he snagged that body off craigslist. I don't know squat about guitars so couldn't tell you much more than that :P

It's a Fender Cabronita body:

which are really nice guitars, I love the neck he put on there. My white telemaster is a warmoth build and I love it they definitely make some quality parts.

Yeah I am one of those weirdos with long skinny spider fingers, so I enjoy wide nut widths on guitars and basses, why I tend to dig the strat necks. When at GC I love playing the tele with double bucks, but I get a little finger twisted at first from the tiny necks lol, though about a minute of playing I adjust. Yeah I can't decide if I want to go with those old school Fender pups, or not, as I do dig that tone a lot, but more traditional routes would make finding pickups easier. I wish I had the knowledge and balls to route bodies for pickups I want. You can make stuff pretty cheap the way you want, like a pbass with a nice neck pup, etc.
