Stoner/Doom Bassists 53: Loud Noises

No pups are the same, TB Plus Gibbys and Epis

Ha ha they get you one way or the other, correct pups on the alder bodies, and wrong pups on the silverburst, ha ha
I`m confused . I have a Silverburst Epi `bird,so which pups are in them?
I haven't played one in a long time, how heavy is your Epiphone, I know they are said to be neck heavy but changing the strap button to the heal cures that.

Off hand I`m not sure how much they weigh. I don`t have a bathroom scale any more and I don`t think my milligram scale is up to the task. It does neck dive some but a leather strap helps a lot. I bought the Epi `bird originally because I wanted to put a fender jazz neck on it and make a Fenderbird. But then I got lazy and every jazz neck that I liked cost more than I wanted to pay. One day I`ll have a sweet fenderbird!;)

What(if any) difference is there between the TB and TB Plus pups?

I think I heard someone knocking the newest gen of My Little Pony. If you have a daughter you should be lucky that it's as good as it is. I can actually sit with my daughter and laugh at stuff.

I have twin 6yr olds and I gotta say, hands down, the best show I've seen is Phineas and Ferb. A couple of kids that build crazy stuff while they are on summer break. I've got myself watching it without them several times. They aren't quite into Adventure Time.....yet

I really dig those Epiphone Allen Woody and I read where some guys change the caps on the tone pot, so would probably work on the SG as well. I think you are right about a certain bass will sound a certain way, and the closest TB, Les Paul, Flying V, and Explorer will ahve the closest sounds.

I am not an active bass guy so and really want those TB pickups, so think the standard Epip Thunderbird is the way too fly, the standard models are Alder body but if you get the silverburst it is Mahogony like the actual Gibbys. And only 300 bucks too, and tons used out there.

The old epi classic T-birds are bolt on Adler. With shvt pups. The goth and silverburst ones are mahogany and bolt on as well with the same pups.

The new pro series classic T-birds have American made pups. Pretty good sounding. A bunch of people think they're Seymour Duncan. They're really close to a gibby tbird.

My understanding is, Tb and Tb plus pups are made over seas. The Gibson and epi pro classic T-birds have American made Tb plus CERAMIC pups. Those are much better sounding imo. Deeper, darker, cleaner sounding. Between the better pups and the neck through mahogany bodies the gibson and epi pro classic have way more character.

Whoever in this thread considers themselves a Brony, the exit is over there ;) I think I first read about all that crap on TB. I couldn't believe it was an actual thing. I tried watching a few episodes and I thought it was dumb as hell. To each their own, but no male who has hit puberty should be watching that show :P

Don't forget Chowder!

Yeah, Chowder is another good one! Dana Snyder, the voice actor for Master Shake on ATHF, does the voice of the mastodon guy on that show.
