I`m confused . I have a Silverburst Epi `bird,so which pups are in them?

I am kind of confused too, but the Silverbirds I see have chrome pickups on it with a trim ring around them, the Gibbys and Epis have the black TBs on them. And I am confused too, about pups if there is a difference between TB Plus and TB plus with Ceramic magnets, some sites say TB plus for both then I see different. Like are they really different or is it marketing at is best.

Anyone done a trade on tb with someone other then in the doom room? How did it go down?

I did one local bass trade with a TBer, and I did a pricey bass trade with a TBer where both of us had to ship. Both were great transactions, and I did a bunch of pedal swaps all came out great. All honest and happy on both ends.

Got the Sitori Sonics Bass Fuzz today. Pretty interesting, it must be a Fuzz Face circuit that retains the lows. Pretty neat, huge amounts of volume, way Vintage fuzz tone, thinner, looser fuzz than muff types, gets crazy loud and reacts to the volume knob on the bass like old school fuzz, neat in its own different way.

My understanding was that the silver burst birds just had different pup covers. You can swap covers on those huge epi pups.... but I'm curious. Measure your pups Sam. Lets compare.

The old epi classic T-birds are bolt on Adler. With shvt pups. The goth and silverburst ones are mahogany and bolt on as well with the same pups.

The new pro series classic T-birds have American made pups. Pretty good sounding. A bunch of people think they're Seymour Duncan. They're really close to a gibby tbird.

Man that white Epi Classic is so sweet, think I know the newest bass on my wish list!!!

My understanding is, Tb and Tb plus pups are made over seas. The Gibson and epi pro classic T-birds have American made Tb plus CERAMIC pups. Those are much better sounding imo. Deeper, darker, cleaner sounding. Between the better pups and the neck through mahogany bodies the gibson and epi pro classic have way more character.

My Explorer has USA ceramic TB pick ups. Not sure about the Epi Bird.

I am thinking about buying a Reverb pedal to be added to the my setup and as I'm using a EHX delay I thought that a nice Reverb will hopefully compliment the tone in the chain.

Any advice on how to get the most out this type of pedal in a stoner rock type bass rig?

I'm using primarily EHX pedals in a chain starting with Wah/Big Muff/Enigma Q balls/Small stone Phaser/Chorus/delay.

I vote you "black-burst" it by spraying the edges opaque and fading to your stain in the center.

- Not trying to get tooo crazy. So far it's coming out pretty good, so unless I feel the need to attempt and cover a screw up I'm not trying to experiment with any burst finishes on this one.

- I was gassing for one of these a few weeks ago. I'm pretty sure they're neck thru... They look damn sexy!

I haven't played one in a long time, how heavy is your Epiphone, I know they are said to be neck heavy but changing the strap button to the heal cures that.

I've got a T-Bird, it's SUPER neck heavy. It used to dive all the time, until I got a better thicker strap. Now it doesn't dive at all.


And to the Pony thing, my kids are never watching that around me, haha.

I've done a ton of trading, buying, and selling on TB. Every time it's went well. There was one lost pedal a couple years ago, but the seller kept in contact with me throughout the transaction and refunded me in full after it hasn't shown up a month after it was shipped. It eventually showed up back at his house so all ended well in the end.

I have a 2 part question for you dudes.

1)how do you store your basses/guitars when not playing them? Do you use a stand/hard case/gig bag/wall hanger/rack/other? Or some combination?

2) How do you go about keeping them clean? Any particular cloth/cleaner/polish/kits to recommend?

I just bought a 5 bass rack to keep my basses close by and handy to play. Before that I had 3 stands taking up floor space. I also have a hollowbody hanging on the wall and a few more in their hardshell cases.
I really like having the 5 slot rack but my basses get dust and cat hair(while I love my cats,I hate having cat hair on my stuff!) on them. Also the only free space available for the rack was in front of my window. So I`m kind of worried about the sun fading them in the rack. Because of my freakish worrying I`ve kept the majority of my gear in their hardshell cases.
So am I over thinking this?

I'd skip the verb on bass, I love it on guitar but with bass things just get a tad too muddy, especially when you start adding fuzz and distorted guitar in the mix. I just use an analog delay set really short if that's the type of sound I'm going for.

How about overall weight of the bass, lead sled or not too bad? Also I watched a real long youtube review of the Epi Thunderbird by this British guy and he took his TB to a guitar tech because of the neck dive and the tech moved it like the picture below and he said no neck dive after that.

I keep my acoustic hanging, out of direct sunlight.
All my regular basses stay in their cases except one which is the grab and jam out a riff position on a stand next to my rig.
Cleaning, everything gets wiped off dry only oiled when the seasons change. Even then lightly cause the damn humidity here in Louisiana. I'm the proud owner of a bunch of cheap crap so I wouldn't know how to deal with vintage anything.

That Sitori Bass Fuzz is a blast on guitar too, I was hitting it with my MXR octave fuzz, with some up up and down octave and having some Jack White fun on the Peavey Reactor, woohoo!!! Loud as fVck, tons of volume. Tried a really cool fuzz face clone vintage fuzz on guitar before, but didn't bond with it, really like the addition of lows and mids this bass fuzz gives to guitar, the fuzz faces are usually just trebley hell too me, this rounds it out nicely.
