Stoner/Doom Bassists 54: Big Cabs and Nerd Bombs

Change your tone from passive to upset, and let them know how poorly you think their customer service has been up to this point in a respectful manner. One of the downfalls of successful small businesses like that is, is that customer service gets set aside when something like faulty parts or falling behind schedule sets everyone on edge.

Yeah, totally did that...and that's why I think I got a response to the last email I sent on Monday haha.

I feel I've been pretty laid back with the whole situation. Sayer has been nothing but nice over the phone. The whole emails being ignored thing is just a head scratcher to me, though and makes me think I'm totally getting shafted.

Some people are also just really bad at the internet. Sometimes it is hard to fathom but it's true haha.

i often get a lot of emails, through my school stuff which comes first, my wedding stuff which comes 2nd (or so i say to the fiance) and dunwich which is 3rd

(okay sometimes those orders flip but you know)

Sometimes its tough to answer everything

My friend who knows nothing about our scene but enjoys a lot of the music I recommend to him asked me if Wolfmother fell under the "stoner" umbrella. I never really thought about it much. What do you guys think? Obvious Led Zep/Sabbath influences, cool psychedelic stuff, cool and crazy vintage gear, so why do you never hear anyone ever talk about them?

My theory is we basically ignore them with some subliminal pretentiousness because no one had heard of them and then suddenly they were a mainstream success. While they definitely are more radio friendly than most of the stuff we dig, I think I'd still consider them part of our stoner/doom stuff. Example:

I think Wolfmother falls towards the "retro rock" end of the spectrum, which is more "mainstream" than other sub genres in this category, but nothing bad in my mind. People pooped all over them AND The Sword when they both suddenly blew up to a wide audience. Presumably because there are lesser known bands that a lot of people thought deserved more attention, but I'd much rather hear either of those bands on the radio than 99.99% of what's there now. To be fair, there's not much sting to calling a retro minded rock band "mainstream friendly". Considering that mainstream centers on Zep, Sabbath and bunch of other bands that are deserving of mass attention. The metal end of the spectrum for these genres can be pretty extreme, but the retro and stoner rock end is pretty much just a continuation of 70s radio rock with more punk and heavy metal influences folded in here and there, which pretty much just makes it a continuation of 90s mainstream radio rock too since that's what most "grunge" was already.

Yup, I agree Wolfmother can be grouped in S/D.

Been digging The Shrine lately, not only because I have a Peavey PA200 and can cop that tone perfect, if only the talent came with.

EDIT: I do agree with Corey too, Wolfmother is definitely retro rock, but I think the lines between genres can be bent and crossed, their just words anyway, kinda same thing with The Shrine.
