Stoner/Doom Bassists 54: Big Cabs and Nerd Bombs

also in relation to image again - does anyone else think that sometimes in the stoner doom crowd we can be a bit pretentious about gear, or worship gear a bit too much perhaps? i am super guilty of it - it's like we're the audiophiles of the musician world, tone this, tone that, boutique pedals, tube or hybrid amps, huge volume, sound dispersion, specific string gauge selection.. big stacks with mixed drivers get us all giddy, while little combo amps make us scoff..

There's definitely a lot of elitism in the stoner/doom crowd as far as gear. Some of it bothers me.

Sometimes I worry that I might come off as pretentious with my gear, due to my amp and cab being really nice. Then I remember that the bass I play doom with is a modded entry-level Peavey, and I feel better. :p

the beginning of the collection!

So, I'm beginning to feel like I'm getting Laz'd by Heavy Electronics. :eyebrow:I sent my pedal to them March 13th, they received it March 18th. Sent a few emails after it was confirmed that they had it on what the status was...nothing.

Talked to them again last week (on the phone..the only way I've been able to get ahold of them) and was told it was patched up and would be shipped out within the next couple days and would be sent a tracking number. Again, nothing.

Sent another email on Monday and was sent a tracking number, but it's been two days and there has been no activity on the number I was given.

Sooo yeah....I have been nothing but kind in my inquiries about the whole thing, but I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever see this pedal again. Am I being too quick to judge here?:hmm:

I can't imagine them lazzing you.

i know i know. im still waiting on artwork for lots of stuff. ARRRGGGGG!!!

I'm picturing an old newpaper political cartoon, where you're slaving away over a pile of pedals, with stacks of books and ungraded papers around you and your fiance tapping her foot off to the side and there's a mob of angry, shadowy figures looming over with clubs and it just says "TB S/D Thread" across their chests.

:D

That's what I thought, too....but I'm beginning to wonder. :(

Change your tone from passive to upset, and let them know how poorly you think their customer service has been up to this point in a respectful manner. One of the downfalls of successful small businesses like that is, is that customer service gets set aside when something like faulty parts or falling behind schedule sets everyone on edge.
