Sadly, unless one really digs for them, the synth sounds we hear are usually the ones being forced upon us by mainstream media.

Yes, every time I hear "synth" I also think 80's cheese. I was there during those sad times.

I remember saying before I wish there was a magic button to remove lyrics/vocals from music that would be better without them, well they need to have one for keyboards too, and maybe brass instruments as well, when any of the above becomes a blanket that spoils otherwise good music

Pretty much, most 80's music on the keyboard/synth end of it.

One pet peeve of mine is acoustic songs.

There was a trend (maybe their still is) where if you are an old punk rocker from the 90s, that you have to start a solo acoustic career or the bands that sold out, had to have atleast one acoustic track on their record. One band in particular felt like they made themselves play acoustically. It sounded that way on the record and I can't stand it (some of you other punkers can probably guess what late 90s band sold out and had an acoustic track on their major label debut. maybe some fun trivia)

The band I am speaking about is still going (as a punk band) and they are from the same city as another Doomer. I can't say if that would narrow it down enough...

So, didn't have band practice last night...but did manage to get together with the singer/guitarist in CM and work out most of a new song by ourselves. Not quite the same as playing music loudly, but at least we did something.

So, didn't have band practice last night...but did manage to get together with the singer/guitarist in CM and work out most of a new song by ourselves. Not quite the same as playing music loudly, but at least we did something.

My last practice was me and the guitar for the first hour, then we played our 45 minute set together, and then me and the drummer for the last hour. Although, the guitarist and I started working on some new (very tasty too) riffs.

I can't imagine being in several bands with "0" progress. Hope it gets better for you because your songs always make me smile.

I really need a weekly 4 hour practice to try to work on new material.

I also didn't have band practice last night. Got together with my guitarist, John, though and jammed on a couple of cool riffs that we may make into song.

So yeah, drummer dude bailed on practice about 2 hours before saying he had to work late. John seems to think that he may have had a panic attack? haha I dunno, but he was visibly frustrated when we jammed on Monday so I wouldn't be surprised if he was right.

Also put some Lace Alumitone Pups into the Squier P and hot damn it sounds ballin' now! Really pleased with the tone. Higher gain than the stock pups, but once I rolled back a the fuzz it sounds awesome.

Played around with the new Freeze pedal, too. Not sure if it's something I'm coordinated enough to use as intended haha. I kinda feel a pedal purge coming on...there's a couple things I don't know if I'm gonna use much. I've pretty much complete abandoned my phaser for chorus.

We get all our keys from Reason samples and then tweak from there.

I kinda puke in my mouth a bit when I hear it played like a piano, but overall I've been very happy with the crazy **** he makes his keys/laptop do.

Haven't had a BSOD mid show, yet.....yet.

Thanks man, I appreciate the encouragement. I need to work on my focus, do something on my own and not divert to side projects.

I've been wanting to try those for a while. I like Lace as a brand in general and they seem to be getting better and better lately.
