Nothing wrong with Hammond organ, I dig that hammond sound big time. I love the retro and classic rock side of things the most. I guess that whole cheesy synth riffing of the 70s and 80s just cheesed out so much music that maybe wouldn't suck as much without it, maybe.

Just hard to find that many that use the analog stuff, so dont think I am completly wrong on that one, most synth you hear is cheesy still, some people do some good things like Tortoise, Radiohead, Papadosio(all analog)but for the most I would rather hear guitar and bass, and maybe some rhodes or some cool organ tones, just something cheesy about keyboards and keyboard players to me.

Just off the top of my head there are a few examples of bands/artists who use synthesizers to make amazing music.

Synthesizers are not keyboards, they can be triggered by just about anything, I used to use a pitch to midi converter with my bass to play a Moog Slim Phatty in an ambient jam thing.

There is a lot to the world of synthesis outside of bad string pads that most people use/think of when it comes to "synth" they are capable of some of the most amazing and complex sounds/textures in music. Plus when used correctly can be massively heavy and destructive sounding, to supremely musical.

Yeah but usually the keyboard has the synth attached or vice versa. I know what you are saying though. I saw a group or I guess maybe not really music but electronic sound demonstrators, hard to explain it as music more like synthesizer sound, and can't remember there name and have tried to find their name with no luck through google, that opened up for Tortoise in Richmond Va. Two guys that just had columns of analog synthesizers and no keyboard controllers. Making all kinds of weird sounds, kind of interesting but not really music I guess. I think everyone knows what I meant by the keyboard(synth) cheesyness though. But to each there own.

I actually even got my other pedals I listed for sale with me so if someone buys on TB I can still ship. There is a Nobels PH-D phaser at the Musicgoround in Wilkes-Barre, can't wait to test drive that one, love me some phaser!!! Also a Sunn Beta Bass head(not the concert but still curious to play a Sunn for Squires and Giggles), and some Carvin speaker cabs, plus a bunch of guitars and basses to keep me busy, plus Wilkes-Barre Craigslist, and some pawn shops!!! And a USA Peavey Predator strat for less than a hundred, WOHOO

Sadly, unless one really digs for them, the synth sounds we hear are usually the ones being forced upon us by mainstream media.

Yes, every time I hear "synth" I also think 80's cheese. I was there during those sad times.
