Soooo I'm considering selling my first bass. I've had it since I was 14, and I just don't dig it anymore. It sounds like squished dog poo with dirt, probably due to the active preamp. I'm not sure if I wanna do it, but I'm thinking more and more yes.

Do you guys still have your first bass? Am I being too sentimental here?

I'm not sentimental about stuff like that, but I also fully acknowledge that I'm in the minority when it comes to things like that. If you're a sentimental person, you may want to keep it. If not, sell it and buy some strings or something. Personally I don't keep stuff around for sentimental value, it gets used or it's gone.

What up y'all! Been trying to stay away this thread is too much of a time waster to manage while packing up the house. Popped in and don't know W T F is going on but still full of good peeps so its all good.

I still have my first bass, POS Samick PJ, terrible action needs stupid work to correct string height, but I'll keep that b!tch til i die. Sounds good with flats might sink some more money in it but I've no hope for it to be awesome.

My second bass (and first five string) was a Samick PJ, was about as growly as a wet cardboard box. Can't say I miss it. :D

My first bass has been in the workshop for almost two years, I spent at least 3x the bass worth in new parts, had no money to pay the luthiers work for a year after, so never went back for it.

Ever since I got a steady job and income I've tried to get in touch with him again to no avail.

Sounds about right. Very uninteresting. The EMGs in it now are tolerable but I'd love to find some passives with more bootay to swap 'em with. Just missing balls. Probably when i get settled in Bremerton I'll pull her apart and see what I can do about the action problem at the least.

Keep it! I'll never cut loose my second bass. My dad bought it for me before he passed. It's a road dog. We've been through some s*** together. Platinum warlock. Unwieldy and meh sounding. I may put a new set of p-pickups in it, but I doubt it'll see much playing anymore. Thought of making a display case for it...

Got mine right after my dad passed. Had her since age 14. Played many a punk show with her. Can't wait to convert her to a P bass so I can gig with her again.
