There has been a Vantage bass on CL around here for awhile. I'm always intrigued by it, but I have no use for it so I've never inquired about it.
PA, should changeof its name to The Flood Me State, there are homes in West Nanticoke in Eastern PA they had to raise and put on stilts, like old timey 2 & 3 story homes on stilts or a whole bottome floor of blocks, like a ghetto version of the Outer Banks lol. Stay safe and dry Laz!
I wouldn't mind a VT Bass again. I had a deluxe and dug it.
Still haven't had time to plug in the Berg, hopefully today, but no band so I can't really rock that bitch in my house. I'm stoked to have the higher freq driver in there since I'd like to get into more mod, delay & reverb effects that didn't translate well with the Emperors.
On the Emperor topic, I'm in the same camp as Sam with his 8x10. Sometimes I loved it, other times I hated it and thought I was missing something. They were loud as hell though and I'm still not convinced these "designed" cabs are going to be as crazy as the Emperors.
As for Julian always recommending his set up, there is something to it. That '66 is bad ass no doubt and the CL400, if you can find one, is a phenomenal head with huge tube power on the cheap, again, IF you can find one. That's the main reason I went for a CL400 since I can't afford an SVT. It's got a huge range of tones also. Win.

I can only comment on the guitar I have. That said, I feel the quality, craftsmanship, and tones from it are very good. For an instrument that can be had for relatively cheap, these are good to look into.
I'd not hesitate to buy one again.
Yeah whatever the name badge, Vantage, Aria, etc, that series of Matsumoku guitars and basses, especially the double cut basses with the double pbass pups and 2 on a side headstocks, I just love them.
agreed about the 810, but paired with an ampeg 215 it was such an awesome tone. i had a 90s SVT 215, same box as the 810, and paired they sounded so full. by themselves each were missing something, but running an SVT into both of those were really really nice.
im thinking about rerouting my cabs to different heads, i have a 612 and a 415 going to each amp, and the 612s are a little more mid range-y than id like at the moment. could be the placement of them in the backline as well so we may switch back to the old alignment, or it could just be the setting on the heads. im gonna try the SC150 with the 612s and just bump the bass up (as theres no mid knob on it haha).

I'd be perfectly happy recording with my pedal board into the Tone Hammer...but I really want to give my Richtone amp a try. I did buy it for the studio after all.

The are cool but they have sub-par power handling. I almost bought Beebass's but I would have blown it. I had 2 ae. SVT15e's and they sound amazing in the bedroom but were fart machines when playing at gig volume. Beebass never turns his amps on so his risk of blowing speakers is quite low.
theyre tough to find but theyre cheap. i got mine for like 350-400 and it was awesome.
haha i dont have that davis "crank it until it blows" mentality with my stuff.
but then again, ive never blown a speaker, you blow one weekly or bi weekly? lol

I've blown one speaker and that was because of arrogance and the speaker being 40 years old. I was trying to show how tough and efficient my folded horn 18" was.
Hell...I play out about as much as Beebass turns up his amps so maybe I should revisit an SVT215.
I have 2 810's. One has 3 blown speakers from when I let a dude use my cab.
Never again.
haha you also need to remember you were trying to turn up in my moms basement, who was already pissed at the volume lol. im plenty loud live, come to a show and let me know if it meets the davis volume needs.
You might be missing the point. Of course, if a cab sounds great, it sounds great. My love of Carvin BRX 10.2 Neos are a good example. I also have a fondness for Mesa, and old Peavey 2x 15's.
But if the cab doesn't sound great, the they're charging big $$$ for it, the bracing, port size, driver, all that comes into play.
I've heard too many guys, and I'm one of them, get all gushy because they have "Brand X" cab, and figure it's the greatest cab on he planet. And it sounds like absolute crap on stage or at rehearsal.
Letting them fool themselves is cruel. Being a jackass about it is stupid. But every now and then you gotta tell the Emperor they have no clothes on.

The square footage of your speaker cones make you plenty loud.
The "loudest" rig I ever heard was at conversational level but there were several 8x10's on stage (I'm trying to remember who it was) so even high E above middle C gutted your bowels.
haha, if the cab sounds bad, the cab sounds bad. if it sounds good, it sounds good.
my whole point is people shouldnt stress about build specs and speaker type and bracing and porting and blah blah. use your ears, if it sounds good, then it sounds good. the rest of it is just stuff to put on some spec sheet.
emperor charges a lot of money because people will pay for it. so either their cabs do sound good to some, or theyre tricking everybody into thinking so. seems like the trick is working haha.
i dont know who the loudest band ive ever heard was, but i know the best overall tone was a band called Tides, instrumental band. they were loud, nothing crazy, but damnit if they didnt have the most perfect blend ive ever heard. bassist just had a vintage SVT, vintage 810, and a 70s P, and it sounded amazing. MOTA is a nice second, my only complaint about their live setup is the moog gets buried and jason does a lot of cool stuff on their recordings that gets lost live.

id buy a lemmy ric dildo if they made one but no way i would wear that hat, lol
does your 650B have neck dive? internet says they are unbalanced but mine could balance on my knee. maybe it was those giant aftermarket pickups, which i sold separately for about what i paid for the whole bass
