Morning Gents:

Here's a new tune were working on here at Shitbox Studios. After some time behind the desk I feel our slogan should be "**** it! We'll fix it in post".

This is just basic guitars and bass to a click track for our drummer to practice with. No solos yet. It's a little choppy because I broke it up by BPM.

Oh the flat brim style. I've always thought they look ********, but if that is what sells motorhead to a wider audience I'm cool. Selling out would be"Motorhead brought to you by ToysRus will be performing the I don't want to grow up." I don't mind commercialism with merchandise its the compromise of a performance that kills me.

I missed most of the selling out talk but my opinion of professional musicians has change substantially recently. Since normal revenue streams don't exist you do what you can to make a buck without selling out you morals.

Last time I checked I had no strong morals related to merch.

Now...Moby doing a cigarette/McDonald's commercial??? That would be selling out.

Regarding SG style basses, I am still curious as to why you guys would want something that is notorious for neck diving.

Seems to me, that anything that doesn't have the correct weight/balance/ergonomics is a flawed design. (**cough Gibson 3 point bridge, cough**)

I've had them. I've hated the weight distribution. I've sold them. I still lust for them.

am i the only one who still plays Ampeg? guess im just weird or something.

I'm still playing an Ampeg 810. sometimes i love it, sometimes I hate it. it just doesn't do well with phaser/filters/delays and reverb. It doesn't have the frequency response to reproduce the effects well. luckily i don't use those effects very often, but it would be nice. I'm thinking of checking out the new Mesa Traditional 810 but they are way too overpriced so I doubt I'd ever take the plunge.

The most absolute boutique pedal in existence...























































Bass Big Muff Deluxe. It may not be sexy but it is functional as hell.

I added a little SVT 4pro amp sim and slight compression but that was more for "gluing" purposes. The tone is 98% from the pedal.


Honestly when I listened to it this morning it reminded me of the Bennington Triangle Blues bass tone.

My favorite tone to use is some boutique TS type pedal with flat-ish response into Sansamp bass driver. Instant Rex Brown.

am i the only one who still plays Ampeg? guess im just weird or something.

I have a very nice Ampeg micro that I use as a practice amp. It sounds good through all my cabs. I do not prefer ampeg cabs though. Most of them sound very muffled for what I want. I do think their best sounding cab is the PF-115LF.

Morning doomers,
I don't give a crap about what a band sells for merch. They could make a dildo shaped like Lemmy's ric that vibrates along to ace of spades for all I care. The fact that he's even still performing and not in a home after years of self abuse from touring is unbelievable and we should be grateful that they have continued to make essentially the same album for all of these years.

Grrr I hate not being able to listen to clips at work. Then I get home and forget to go back because you guys move this thread like jackrabbits. I get a bit of DBBM gas every once in a while, they packed a ton of features into that guy and I'm sure a little modding could make it even better.

My gas is all over the place lately, I blame my woman for making me play guitar again. Have a vt bass and a looper coming to me from a trade next week and I'm trying to scrape together to pick up a zoom ms-70cdr. I have really bad rat gas too and have been staring longingly at the vfe alpha dog. Namm is right around the corner though... igniting more gas.

Kawai, I can see why you love that Vantage guitar, that Aria I just picked up is so sweet to play. I still want to get my paws on one of the single or double cut Vox guitars with the those funky blended P90/Humbucker pickups. Fingers crossed my Roadstar PJ and Peavey Reactor tele sell and I can get that paint of the Peavet Predator and sell that too. The pickups in Squire II Strat are so much nicer than the ceramic ones in the Peavey so I know what Strat I will be keeping. I would like to get that Vox and set it up for C standard.

No, you got a way better tone, I really am not a fan of how the bass ended up sounding on BTB. I don't know where all the low end got sucked up. For the next record I'm going to make sure there is more depth in the sub 80hz range. we went for a more vintage sound on the last record, sometimes i kind of regret it a bit. Next one will sound bigger for sure.

It was nasally but I thought it was intentional. Like a planned departure from traditional stoner tone.

I may get laughed out of here for saying this but a few pedals and an amp sim can get you a perfectly fine bass tone for recording.

Remember when Line 6 Pods came out? Every album you heard around that time used one of those.

My complaint about Emperor is that with the lack of bracing and internal batting... I just see no reason to pay a bunch of money for a cab that looks fancy but isn't built any more solidly on the inside than something I could put together myself.

They do look great, and many of them sound great. I just think that the lack of good bracing is laziness that lets energy get wasted flexing the cab sides and back when with good bracing it would instead be moving more air and therefore be louder.

and i get that, but again, if they sound great, who cares? if a cab sounded awesome, i wouldnt be sitting there going "man, i just wish this bracing was better" lol.
