Mark is working on how to ship the '66 to me currently.

I've been running the berg NV610 & NV215. But I traded the 215 with Jason for his strategy 400. Ideally I was hoping to keep all three until I could figure out what setup was going to work best but the trade was too good to pass up.

So currently all I have is the NV610. But in theory the '66 should be here in around a week. So we will see how it works, especially in the band mix.

Might end up using both, we will see.

Ill be sure to give full in depth updates once it does show up.

Yup. I've got that carvin dcm3800.

I can run it stereo pushing more power to the '66 than the NV610, and with the pre nick is building me I can run different yet complimenting tones to each cab so I can a full range of tones.

It's going to be pretty huge, I'm excited.

totally agree. it's more about the mood than the amount of distortion or tempo.

Yeah, it's more about the overall feeling of the music than any specific sound in it.

haha im with you on that.

music can definitely be heavy without loads of fuzz and being down tuned, but heavy (just like loud) is a very subjective term. i will probably never think anything bluesy is really heavy, while plenty of you probably will. while i think black metal can be crushingly heavy and atmospheric, plenty of people think its lame noise.

all preference. but the heaviest song ever is "Death on Two Legs" by Queen, thats not debatable lol.

With you on the blues and black metal. Some bluesy stuff, like Sabbath and Sleep, I think of as being heavy, but it really depends, and in a lot of cases the bluesy feel of a band/song makes it less heavy.

Some black metal I think of as heavy, some I don't. It just depends on how that band makes the song feel.

I've never owned either an El Oso or a Bluebeard.

The only fuzz pedal I have is an EHX Big Muff, and I don't even use it the vast majority of the time. Amp distortion ftw.

and while those are fine and dandy, that doesnt change the fact that your ears should tell you what is right. if the port size is wrong and the cab sounds good, who cares? if the bracing isnt great, and it sounds good, who cares? im sure there are properly braced cabs and properly ported cabs that sound like ****, and vice versa.

My complaint about Emperor is that with the lack of bracing and internal batting... I just see no reason to pay a bunch of money for a cab that looks fancy but isn't built any more solidly on the inside than something I could put together myself.

They do look great, and many of them sound great. I just think that the lack of good bracing is laziness that lets energy get wasted flexing the cab sides and back when with good bracing it would instead be moving more air and therefore be louder.

That's what I think. But apparently there's been a massive outrage because those hats are 'hip hop style' and not metal.

I don't mind commercialism with merchandise its the compromise of a performance that kills me.

I think caring about someone else's style is not metal. If some hip hop kids want to listen to them and wear their merch, more power to em. Wider sales, wider market, better music for all.
