Stoner/Doom Bassists #64 - sensitive artsy emo chicks

You got that right. Makes me think though. .. Why is it that the sg shape just doesn't translate well into basses? Is it just me? I feel like SG basses just aren't right.

Personally, I agree...never could make those shapes work, balance-wise...I've developed a pet peeve for basses that look like guitars, with some exceptions :)

Had to add my $.02, of course from the annoying perspective.

Do any of you guys have a good simple definition/explanation of syncopation. Was talking to a friend and had a hard time explaining well if I was even correctly describing it.

Level one simple:
Accents on the upbeats.

Level two:
Show how four quarter notes sounds and looks on paper. Then show what happens when you stick an eighth note in front, shifts everything over, off the down beats. The more little notes you stick in the more syncopated it can become. :D

That's what I'm saying! If I find out that your uber-compelling dumpster futon story is available on tumblr, I'm signing up!!! Especially if it's in even greater detail!!!:hyper:

#dumpsterfuton!!!

Well I probably should, as a marketing major looking to get into copywriting I need as many viewable writing samples as i can.

I do save all my photos from beginning to end of every piece of gear I rescue and fix. My other interests and futon rescues are just gravy.

Editing and adding to daily but I've got about 10-15 minutes of comedy written, need to get the nerve for open mic stand up. Not sure why that bugs me, I can play in front of people and talk to crowds/speeches, but kinda ancy about this, I'm sure if I do it ill get the into the swing of it.

The futon did introduce me to to a neighbor who helped my drag it into my place. Already pre checked for vermin, and it passed, washed the cover and fanned and inscensed the pad, though it wasn't the least bit fouled. Now I can fall asleep in front of the tv!

You aren't right buddy.

Well,I've been missing in action for a bit, sorry guys.
We recorded an E.P at my parents house over the weekend with a guy called Stu from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard producing.Tracked 7 songs live in 5 hours, and spent another afternoon over dubbing guitars. It's sounding absolutely huge.Vocals still to go.
I went to a fairly loose jam party on Friday night, and I ended up jamming with the bass player from Tame Impala. Not to mention an attractive female drummer to boot!

That is just awesome.

no but i do have two one on one intensive care clients one of which is prema-tripping on LSD and dust and loves slayer and obituary, but once again he is violent and constantly forgets what hes doing lol

Hmm,you might actually be the person to talk to right now.I've met a pretty groovey girl, but she's clearly melted her head with the psychs. Is that something that will ease if she slows down on them a bit?

Most doom stage EVER.

Yes it's floating

Poking my head in...I'm busy with this all weekend:

4 of 6 songs done on drums so far.

nice!! Hopefully everyone is keeping a cool head. Some dudes just fall apart when you hit record.

Looking forward to hearing the final product!

hahahaha, just found myself typing along with the solo in this Atomic Bitchwax song. Have heard about them before, but today's the first time to actually sit down and listen! Radnesss

Their first two albums are my favorite. III has some good songs, but overall was pretty weak IMO. Their most recent, The Local Fuzz, is pretty badass though.

Recording has been going smoothly so far. Our drummer is rock solid, he's been nailing everything in a couple takes. Lots of setup of course, but I've done it enough times now that it went relatively quick. It's going to be a while before we're done though, because we're doing it in phases for every instrument.
