No kidding. I can't believe how lucky I got. Sure we're one member short of what we originally envisioned but it morphed into something we all enjoy.

Monobrow is definitely a best case scenario, as far as hoping for a good band lineup.

Please post your thoughts. I have been thinking about getting one of those. Some of the tones those things are capable of are pretty impressive, going by YouTube. I like the idea of putting other dirt pedals before it.

So far it sounds pretty cool through my little guitar practice amp at low volume. I think I'm probably mainly going to use it to play with the folk dude I play bass for at open mics and stuff, so I don't have to bring my whole rig to get a decent sound.

I'm thinking about bringing it to Catapult's rehearsal tonight to see how it sounds through my actual rig, though. I get all the overdrive I usually need through that, though, so I'm not sure what I'd use it for. Maybe as I mentioned, just extra gank during one part.

What thread is this? You should just do what I do and link it on here, that way we could tell all the people being tools what tools they are.

Just went and read it, because I had to lol. Personal pet peeve, if you don't like something someone else does you "don't get it". As if to say, there's no such thing as difference of opinion and taste...what I like is objectively good and if you don't like it, it just went over your head. My wife goes crazy with that kind of thing, especially when family members do it with spiritual stuff. Which they do, frequently.

Quite a few years ago now, I came to the idea that music is like food. There are just some things I'm not going to like, no matter how well they're made. And that's okay. It's not a reflection of quality (though some stuff is low quality, obviously), but rather of personal taste. So, just as I separate whether a dish suits my tastes from whether I think the chef is good or not, I've been trying to separate whether I like a certain style of music or not from whether I think the people playing it are good musicians.

i like jacos playing a lot, i wasnt into that video tho, a little too much for me.

and how can you hate on marcus miller, you wanna talk about shaking dat ass, hes the guy to do it.

I like Jaco's playing, and I like that he used a fairly aggressive tone in jazz, which is unusual, but most of his stuff I'm just not that into.

I have zero interest in an Orange AD200B. A Matamp, though, would be pretty nice. Except that I don't need a presence control, and prefer front plate/grills you can see through (because I like the vaguely steampunk look of glowing tubes).

I like NAAM to a certain degree, but seeing their keyboard player throw a tantrum on stage was hilarious and ruined the band for me.

Band is on tour and the guy doesn't even bring a keyboard amp on the road? So he plugs directly into the house PA and expects to be able to fully hear the keyboard through his little wedge monitor while there's a wall of amps for bass and guitar behind him. The sound guy already told him that he was pumping as much keyboards through his monitor as possible and the only way to hear them better would be able to turn down the amp stacks. In the middle of songs he'd yell into the mic like "I NEED MORE ****ING KEYBOARDS IN THE MONITOR" and at one point threw his hipster hat at the wall.

The entire thing was incredibly comical, and ruined that band for me.

If Catapult's keyboardist ever does that, I promise I'll try to remember to laugh at him.

Maybe on borrowed rigs, but from what I've seen, Dixie Dave's cabs are just two 2x15s. Unless they're 2x18s. Pretty sure that they're 15"s though.

Yeah, but his is just an open back guitard cab. Crossfired speakers sure, but just a box. No speaker recommendations.

Guitard speakers? He is wanting to go with the tonkerlites, but I have never heard one.

I don't know a whole lot about guitar drivers except that celestions are super popular in metal, and that Yob's guitarist, last I read, used cabs with Eminence drivers, "man o'wars" if I recall.

I wish more people on this thread lived closer to each other. I wanna jam out/record with a bunch of you guys. Like minded musical individuals are in short supply in this area.

How good are you at drumming?

It's in this sub-forum, it's called something like "Jaco clip causing controversy". The controversy is a couple people commented on a youtube video that Jaco overplayed and was walking all over the other musicians and being self serving. They're kind of not wrong really, but a few people defended it by saying almost every musician was overplaying and throwing in extra notes (aka "jazzing it up"), even Joni Mitchell on vocals. Which is sort of correct too. Typically WAY overblown debate akin to angry religious fervor level debate over whether you like mustard or ketchup.

I suck at drumming. I used to be kind of ok, if playing along to the right music, when I was taking lessons and playing regularly. I haven't done that in years, but I do own a nice drum kit for practices and recording.

I've used a .033 cap each time I end up messing with something. My bronco also has a .1 and .001 cap on a switch for high or low cuts

Think we did 125 through the door, and that was with us marketing the show as our CD release and gave free copies of the album to whoever bought tickets through us. OG probably only actually played in front of about 80 people. A lot of that probably has a lot to do with poor promotion, as I doubt many people outside of the city heard about the show. In contrast, when they played here with Clutch there was like 2400 people.

clutch plays the 930 club here which is like 1500-1600 capacity, and they usually sell out easy.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to imply otherwise. Most people were there for Clutch for sure. I'm sure OG plays pretty big shows in the UK!

What are your thoughts on this trade (at a shop, not private):

My ESP LTD J-1005 5 string + Coffin Case (Used market price ~$400 + case)

Used Fender Sunburst MIM Jazz Bass (9.5/10 mechanical, 8/10 cosmetic) (Used market Price ~$350)

This would be my backup bass pretty much. Not digging 5 strings anymore, and moving to something I'll actually use.

I realize I'm taking a little bit of a hit monetarily, but that's expected at a shop, the price you pay for immediate gratification I suppose.

I really dig Jazz Basses, and this one is in decent shape, sounds really nice. Seems like a "good one". Might need some new pickups and definitely a black or tort guard.

I realize this is a personal decision, but any thoughts? I'm leaning towards going for it, and have it on loan till thursday, but want some input.
