Yeah! they rule! I think Thombo has played a few shows with them too! The Rocky Mountain scene is starting to pick up a little bit. The venues are starting to catch on to Doom/stoner rock. This should be a good thing. Now if we can make it happen a little closer to home! (denver is about 1.5 hours away)

The biggest problem locally, is that most musicians/concert goers in town here are military. Which means new people every few months. It's really a double edge sword as most people in the armed forces, don't celebrate this music they way it really needs to be. (IMO, YMMV) :hiding::D

so we got my first 612 up and running. ran my guitarists 71 matamp through it, definitely sounds awesome. very different than the 415 rig, nowhere near the low boom i get with those 15s, although i was using a guitar head so im gonna try it with the SVT tonight. but had a lot more of the punch that i was missing with the 15s, so mixed all together it should be pretty awesome. gotta finish the second one now, and wiring that thing up was a pain in the ass lol.

You should wire them out of phase with your 15's to create a black hole when you play. People could use your rig to travel through time.

those are coming next lol. scott somehow wired the bottom 4 speakers the first time in a 16 ohm load which was correct, however somehow they all got canceled out, so all that was coming out of the cab was the top 2x12. no idea how it happened, but it did lol.

I have a Squier Affinity Precision in pieces that's been gathering dust a while. I bought it cheap for parts, for an octave course bass project I was working on, but ended up scrapping. I was thinking now I might turn it into a low rent Stingray clone and down tune it for the grindcore project I'm working on. The Ray34CA sounded great on the tests I did, but I don't want to throw heavy gauge strings on it, since I'm pretty sure I'm going to use it for this new stoner rock band that's going to be in standard tuning or drop D, most likely.

I have the body, neck and hardware, just need a pickup, preamp and pickguard. GFS for the pickup, not sure what cheap preamp would work, I can make a pickguard. You guys think it's worth the effort or should I just be a crazy person and buy more basses?

It's worth the effort if it plays half way decently IMO. P-basses and grind go together like warlocks and blackmetal.

I did a head to head test of one of the new grindcore songs, Precision vs Stingray. Both sound good, but I felt like the Stingray kind of nailed what would work perfectly in a mix with really thick guitar distortion. I posted the soundcloud clips in one of the previous threads, but here they are again:

Getting to play the ric in a band setting at practice tonight, lets see how it will differ between a P.

I've gone back to running just the B2R, until I can figure out what to do with the Sunn preamp and Acoustic power amp. It still sounds good, just not as full.
