Oh I edited a post, probably missed it, but what interface were you using and mic placement when you used the rock band mic?
LOL. That seems true. Everyone I know with a 1,000+ vinyl collection, have no children.
Audacity and about 8 inches off a the center of a 15" combo, angled at a 45 dergee angle because the didgeridoo was also using the mic.
You might feel differently than I do. My experience is as Nick said, they cut a lot of lows, the clipping does seem to work well for bass. They usually get a weird squelched, gated type of sound that gets real inconsistent and glitchy. Some are better than others, but I'm just not a fan in general of how they sound with bass. Then again, I don't like the Wooly Mammoth on bass and a lot of people seem to think it's great, so like I said...your tastes might be different.
Yeah, probably, if you can render all the tracks individually as mono .wav files or something I can mix them. If you want to have Ancient Tone or someone else local do it, don't worry, it won't break my heart. Whether I do it or not, do yourself a favor and give yourself plenty of headroom when you're trackin. Digital recording has an insanely low noise floor and the metering is very different than analog gear, so there's no need to do the old "turn it up until it clips, then dial it back a hair" technique that they used to teach us on tape machines. Get your peak levels down a ways, say -8dB at least. I usually track with my peak input metering levels at -12db or sometimes lower. People complain that they have to turn up louder when tracking and mixing, but that's what volume knobs are for (and mastering later).
It operates like a noise gate, meaning it cuts in and out suddenly. To use an appropriate TBish onomatopoeia, it sounds like "BLAT" or "SPLAT" when you play a note, instead of having an attack and decay that tapers naturally.

I play bass in a french amateur band and we play a mix of stoner/prog/psych rock or whatever you'd like to call it
As you may well be the most awesome crowd available on the internet, I'd like to share this recording of our one and only gig (for now I hope) to see if what we play is worth anything.
I'd really like you to be as critical as possible, as you are the people who are the most likely to enjoy our music.
So here's the link, thanks for your feedback (and please excuse my total lack of stage presence, it was also my first gig ever and I was nearly pissing my pants)

Noise gate is like a compressor but removes valleys instead of peaks. Useful on live drums, and high distortion guitars that don't want crazy feedback when they're not playing. Just like compression, it can really kill the "organic" qualities of tone if not used properly.

Yeah. Um, if I played that well on my 'first gig ever' I doubt I'd be spending my time crusing the Stoner/Doom forum.
You might want to get a wider strap. that T-40 will kill you by the time your 50.

They all look slightly different, but I think I want to buy a lot and start making treble boosters as a start for simplicity and great tone. I have a business idea, but I probably need someone a little more knowledge pedal wise to help flesh it out, but I had a tie in idea.
