The thing about this, is that it's always strangers, so I never get pictures. I find it hilarious that there are girls all over facebook who posted pics of them licking my back that I'll never see.

Sam your not using the Ric in Monobrow anymore? Or is it just for now? What made you switch to a P?

I always go back and forth between the P and the Ric, I don't favor one over the other. The Ric was just easier for a guitar player to get used to.

Hey I'm just teasing about the Rics. They do look and sound pretty damn cool.

In all honestly, I don't know if it is just a lack of tonal recognition on my part or what, but over the years most of my basses have sounded pretty similar through my rigs. I think it is definitely a case of "the bluebeard makes everything sound like bluebeard". Obviously there are tonal differences when running clean, but when everything is said and done with flats + tone knob rolled off on all my basses, bluebeard fuzz, and that "ampeg tone", my Guild, P and Roadstar are pretty interchangeable. I just end up gigging the bass I feel like playing when I have shows.

Last night I practiced with this total chick rock band I've been working with for a few months. We had to replace the drummer (nice guy, turrable drummer) and yesterday was the first full practice with the new drummer.

Holy smokes, what a difference it makes to have a drummer who doesn't try to bash his way through everything. These are light pop rock songs (think Muse meets Kings of Leon... yeah) and the old guy would stomp the same bar cover band beat through everything. It was maddening.
