When we moved to the new place I brought back the B2R, but I think I may go back to using the Peavey. The distortion and reverb add some uniqueness to my tone. And I can jump channels for a clean blend as well.

Pondering selling the B2R, in favor for a lightweight powerful combo, maybe Markbass? I dont only play stoner/doom, I slap and pop, and I like to play indie pop rock too. I LOVE Death Cab for Cutie...:hiding: Nick Harmer, the bassist can write a damn catchy line. He has awesome tone, he uses a pretty doom rig too. A P bass straight into a SVT-CL with a 8x10 dialed for a little grit...got off track, just picked up some fine greenery so bare with me.

I can use the Peavey and the Sunn for my dedicated stoner/doom rig, but I want a small giggable combo for everything else.

99% percent of TB is asleep right now,but I'm on other side of the world where it's still not night time.
Just flicked through the last couple pages,caught the discussion on The Sword.
Age Of Winters completely blew my mind when I first heard it.One of my favourite albums.
Gods of the Earth and Warp Riders took me a while to get into,but once I did,oh man.
I'm curious to hear their new album,given that they have a new drummer.I also heard they're doing a US tour with the Red Fang.God,that'd be an awesome show.
In other news,I'm doing an interview on the radio tomorrow night.Going to keep a click counter on the amount of times I swear live to air.

So I'm thinking about getting a guitar head for the rehearsal space/recording, since I also have a guitar cab and find myself able to afford it, and have been thought about it for a while.

Any of you have experience with either the original or reissue Sunn Model T? With the original, is it one of those things that you have to turn up ear bleedingly loud to get any overdrive out of?

If you have to slap a pedal in front of it to get any overdrive at a non-insane volume (this would probably be used most frequently for recording)... eh... I'd rather not. I know, that's pretty weird, but I guess I'm a weird guy in that respect. Also not a purist when it comes to reissues.

What sounds are you lookin for? Is this a loud gigging band? There's a bajillion head choices out there, so if you narrow your requirements I'd love to help out. (I'm also a guitar gear nerd.)

I played a late 70's JMP MKII with the master volume and 2 inputs. 50w loaded with 6550's I was in love. My guitar player has tons of tube amps. For stoner stuff he has a Hiwatt dr 103 and a 100w JMP. He prefers the JMP, I can't argue. Also he has a 2x12 two channel JCM 800 reverb that he uses for cover stuff that's cool and just picked up a JMP 2x12that I haven't heard yet.

I've played through a lot of amps, and in my opinion, your budget has the most impact on your choice of amp.

You can get VERY nice tones out of amps that won't cost an arm and a leg.

You HAVE to have tubes? You can get anything from a 5 watt Marshall Class 5 (awesome amp) to sky's-the-limit Dumbles/Bogners/Diezel/insert spendy amp name here.

You want Marshall/Mesa grind in a thin budget, go with a Tech 21 Trademark 10/30/60. I have the 10 watter and it is a VERY good sounding amp for OD. Not so much for clean.

Anothe low-wattage choice is the newer Fender Super Champ. I saw a video of Dinosaur Jr. playing in their reheasal spot and J. was using one of these mic'd up, and sounded killer. All tube w/digital sims.

I'm not a huge fan of Line 6 stuff, it just sounds a little too processed for me, YMMV.

I didn't like the class 5 but surprisingly I kinda dug the 5w bugera amp. Never got around to giving it a full go at. Still want to try a champ and blues jr. Or just keep trying to find a hot tubes and get a guitar cab for my v4b. Talked to the guy yesterday who owned the hot tubes I borrowed. Want to keep it or find s clone. No clones exist. :(

I don't know dick about guitar amps but I have two words: Peavey Classic. Did some research for my little brother in law awhile back and talked him into grabbing one of these off CL and was really impressed by it. Plus depending on your budget/desire for speaker area there are different models to look in to.

Anybody seen or heard of this theory?

I figure if any bunch of people on TB would think this is cool, this would probably be it. I'd think any nuanced difference could be exaggerated and brought to light with a few layers of fuzz.

Also, I wouldnt experiment with this if you are ill prepared, I'll make sure the generators are gassed up and the MRE's and ammo are fully stocked before I plug in after bringing myself into the natural tuning of the spacetime continuum matrix

Would you disappear if wholly absorbed into the space/time continuum? I mean, what good is a body if you're just a consciousness amongst the stars?
