Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part 11 - "Bath Time"

http://soundcloud.com/mon-oh-brau/grommet

was posted on FB, but I thought I would share. the bass on this track was recorded with a Fuzzrocious Grey Stache. You can hear that it has a lot of high mids and cuts through in a very different way than the Bluebeard.

BTW. this is taken from the new album, still un-mastered.

Man, this is all Sabbathy-as-hell. Love it. It's got a real slow burn to it that is just right.

That sounds great - and you definitely cut through. I've been thinking about true fuzzes lately. I just wish some of the ones you guys recommend were in stores so I could try them.

I like old school goth like Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Siousxie and the Banshees, Christian Death. Never understood how Goth music changed so much. Opera metal in black just ain't my thing but the track sounds pretty good from a musical stand point. Bass sounds cool on some of them vroom-y riffs

Yeah none of it is really my thing to listen to but it's definitely fun to play. I've worked on a couple of projects with the guy who writes that particular project and he's very "varied", but it's all enjoyable and he's very open to weird ideas I have. Hell, on this track I do some Mudvayne-like bass popping at the beginning. This "Pandora's Toybox" thing has a lot of male singing too and is completely filled with comedy and puns, so it isn't pure goth or opera-metal stuff.

Also, I'm trying to expand my "discography" and play on every (good) album I come across. This was a no-brainer. I have another possibility coming up that I'm pretty excited about, and a third in the wings that has a fairly known drummer (played with Unearth, Kingdom of Sorrow, Seemless, Shadows Fall, etc). That one might have a solo from Alex Skolnick on it and maybe (if we're lucky) vocals from a very well-known Swedish singer...

Tone enhancers....:hiding::bassist:

the deoxit seems to have made a bit of a difference, but still a little too much grind. volume is barely at 10'o'clock on channel 1 and usually that's quite clean for me...

is the user biasing working right on your svt?
Mine was acting funnly when i bought it (used)and was breaking up way to early then started turning off. It wound up being two resistors in the power amp + 2 power amp tubes. Worked great sence.

What the fugg. I go out to my local Super Flea,buy a bunch of Punisher comics,get flowers for Mother`s Day and get some food with my lady(which you`ve got to admit is just about the Dommiest Saturday one could have) and I come home to find part 11, 2 pages in no less? Already? DO you guys even play bass? I need to learn from you dudes on how to manage my time so that I can work,d!ck around,go to the bone zone,play in multiple bands,buy fuzz effects,practice AND post here numerous times per day. I`m squandering my time....yeesh..
What`s wrong with JJ power tubes? I have them in my 300 Pro. Do they suck?

On another subject,I saw The Avengers last night. It was awesome.
