JJ power tubes are fine. It's their preamp tubes that are garbage. They used to be great bit the last 3-4 years they seem to have gone down in quality. I'm a big fan of Electro Harmonix lately. They seem to be the most durable and less prone to noise and microphonics. Not sure how they are different from the other New Sensor brands but to me they sound better than all their other offerings these days.

was posted on FB, but I thought I would share. the bass on this track was recorded with a Fuzzrocious Grey Stache. You can hear that it has a lot of high mids and cuts through in a very different way than the Bluebeard.

BTW. this is taken from the new album, still un-mastered.

Intro reminds me a lot of Electric Wizard. Very nasty sounding. Cool song.

is the user biasing working right on your svt?
Mine was acting funnly when i bought it (used)and was breaking up way to early then started turning off. It wound up being two resistors in the power amp + 2 power amp tubes. Worked great sence.

I turned the VR2 a little bit counter clockwise and everything seems normal again. The amp is quite noisy though, even with the volume down all the way, there is quite a bit of static like noise coming through the speaker.

Hum balance?? Also if you have a decent multi meter you can bias it yourself. Its super easy, maybe he did a cold bias.

and wiggle that phase inverter see to see if the noise changes.

So...on a whim I picked up a Fulltone Catalyst at Guitar Center. It's not perfect but I like it a lot. Not sure if I'm keeping it yet. It made a weird ticking noise when I stopped playing. Might have been some interference in the room somewhere. No matter how good something sounds it must play nice with the room and my rig.

Well I came to my jam space tonight by myself with one sole purpose in mind, and I've achieved that purpose. I prefer the 7 pro over the VR, hands down no questions asked.

Of all the GAS I've ever had, I've never had the slightest inkling to own a Ric. I do think they are one of the best bass designs ever though.

Back from my Blues/Rock/jam band/stoner thing practice. I just thump the lows in that group and get some cash for it. On the what tubes everyone likes, I like Svetlana's solely on the fact it's sound like a Ukrainian hooker (I'm Ukrainian so it's ok)! Time to watch Kickboxer 2, continue with Dooming
