i know how to write and play better in a standard tuning. I do like the mastodon "march of the fire ants" tuning. Its interesting with the octave chords where power chords used to be

Toast, have you thought about just adding a second jack off the volume? Have a preamp jack and a passive jack.
VEGA is a half step down, we sometimes drop tune, i like to drop to because it gives me that low octave.
And i have to admit, the are a couple times that we chug, but man we sound a feel like a hell bound freight train.

OK Gents. Here are some quick tests of a pedal I’m experimenting with.
The signal chain is G&L (with Fender replacement pups for lower output)->Pedal->Crate 15 watt guitar amp->****** phone cam->****** YouTube video compression but, I think it gives a decent idea of the tone of the pedal. It came out for more aggressive than I was planning. Oldcrow and Beebass will be getting some prototypes to jam on this weekend so I’ll be able to get some real world opinions. But in the meantime, let me know your thoughts.

the biggest difference between passive or active setups is not just the output swing but the impedance. Regular pickups are not low impedance devices while the output from most active stuff is fairly low impedance so if you where to take the low impedance high output swing from an active device and attenuate it and increase its impedance then it would be more like a passive device

And will the doom room elite tell me the tricks to heavy not so low tuned heaviness? I need some more tricks as I am about to start writing and getting machete back on track.
Or those of us "lazy guitards" who like dissonant non-standard chords, and droning notes.
My V is in BF#BEG#B it's basically C# standard with the high and low strings dropped, i make a loop with the droning low B and then add on another loop with a droning b 2 octaves up, I'm not lazy im innovative.

Professor Oldcrow would be the master on this. He showed me many things in the art of standard tuned and heavy. It's all about tension and sometimes release.
Billows tunes E flat but I know several times people thought it was much lower.
Birch Hill Dam tunes to B, but we do a lot of stuff up the octave (i.e. not always playing on the lowest string). Our guitarist uses a light-gauge 7-string set too, so it doesn't sound muddy and floppy. Even when we do songs in drop-A, the song "lives" mostly on the normal A-string, only dropping way down for effect.

My band is sticking to E standard atm. I keep pushing to downtune a bit especially so I can use my 5 string but the guitarist isn't having it. The guy has 9 guitars and they're all tuned to standard... they need a facepalm smiley.
Ask and ye shall receive... (all though this one is using a baritone Jaguar in a similar A tuning AEADGA)

My brain refuses to accept that.Pedal and playing sounds badass! Was there suppose to be a diff second vid cuz both are the same link. lol
I can`t give you the full set list but off they top of my head they played Rumors of War,10,000 Years,a few songs off of De Vermis Mysteriis and they closed out with Snakes for the Divine.HoF played for over an hour,almost an hour and a half.
I knew I`d hear from Laz! I really wanted to like them,I did! I even liked `em a bit more for that pic with Steven King at a gas station. For me, Lo Pan is a lot like Clutch. They`re held in high regard but just not my taste.
We play in C,G,C,F because my guitar buddy requested it. I don`t mind playing that low,other than needing heavier strings. And I still like playing in standard or drop D.
