As for Rays, i tried a lot when I was shopping for one. the only ones that sounded good to me were the 2 band EQ. Not sure what it was about the 3 band but they never sounded as good.

Most of our stuff is in Drop C, with two songs in D standard. I prefer to play in a standard tuning, but the workhorse riff machine guitarist seems to like Drop C the most, so I don't complain!
I also think it is kinda fun playing our style of music in Drop C, considering that tuning (to my knowledge) is mainly used by deathcore bands and such. Against the grain n'at.
But its so much fun!
Drop B here. I prefer 5 string basses for my big hands, drop B makes it super ez for everyone. This band shoots for simplicity lol.

im being trolly. If you like it and work it, all the power to y'all but I always hated them and hate playing in them
I think you can wire a push pull one set of lugs to the preamp the other set straight to the output jack. Drop that idea on "the outsiders" 
You could probably create an anti-preamp preamp to counter act the preamps output swing and impedance. then you could decrease the output swing and increase the impedance, viola passive low output pickups

I'm pretty sure that there is some old Sabbath and early doom and stoner metal bands that used various dropped tunings.
I used to think it was a modern convention but I do remember reading some stuff about old school bands tuning low. Not for chugga chugga riffs like the kids do today.

I have always had the LP in C Standard. The bari is A Standard, the tele is E standard, the Exploder is B Standard
Sabbath down tuned because Iommi is missing the tips of two of his fingers. I don't think they ever drop tuned.
I believe they were in drop A or open A. They carried the tuning over to Sunn O))), they just turned the model T's up louder.
Dang. Drop tune hate. I tune drop D on my bass, my guitar player down tunes to D standard. I think he agreed with you, Demon.

My opinion on tunings is the same opinion I have on a lot of other things based on personal preference: who gives a ****

Or those of us "lazy guitards" who like dissonant non-standard chords, and droning notes.
My V is in BF#BEG#B it's basically C# standard with the high and low strings dropped, i make a loop with the droning low B and then add on another loop with a droning b 2 octaves up, I'm not lazy im innovative.
