Check out Rebels, Rouges and Sworn Brothers if you don't want to slog through the whole 2.5 hours of the live album right away. They're a seriously great band. They're my wife's favorite band and I kind of dismissed them for a long time, then we saw them live and holy poopie my mind was changed. They've got something like 9 albums, not a bad one in the bunch.

Thanks, they sort of remind me of Old Pike. The band Carl Broemel was in before MMJ.

I could also us my Ashdown CTM-30 as a preamp (with a small cab as a "dummy load"). Plus I just remembered I have a 300w Tube Works head that is 2 ohm capable (I think) - its MOSFET outputs get pretty tubelike when clipped. My Ampeg Micro-VR is similar, it did a pretty good job of pushing people back from the stage outdoors last summer through an 8x10 :D . And yes, the TH-350 is my main gigging amp at the moment. My "SVT" is actually a Bugera BVV3000 - it's self biasing and biased on the cold side so supposedly a lot easier on the tubes than a "real" SVT...

Can you run the balanced out from the Aguilar to the Carvin for more juice? That's what I would do.

Got another reply to my latest guitarist wanted ad. Dude has no amp.

I put very few restrictions in the ad, but the one must-have was a rig that's loud enough to hang with a loud rhythm section. I said that I didn't care what brand, just needs to sound decent and be loud.

I don't even know how to respond - I don't have a guitar rig these days, I suppose if I did I could loan it to the guy. How the shag does he expect to play in a band with no amp?

Frustrating.

Woop woop filled out the w9 in the interview, I am employed as a marketing analyst! Doing what I actually majored in exciting!

You can't afford an amp you probably can't afford life, or maintain one. Proceed with caution, especially loaning stuff to him. I wouldn't let him take it home.

Oh he's not getting a chance to try out - even if he did I don't have any guitar gear to loan out.
