So I had been obsessing over 1970's stereos for a few weeks, scanning Ebay, craigslist etc. I noticed a whole lot of 'em seemed to be for sale by one particular seller in Phoenix. I called him up, and yeah he runs a vintage audio stuff business, no real storefront, but he operates out of a rented bay in a warehouse. So I drive over there, flush with cash from my amp head sale, and notice on the way over that this warehouse is right next to one of the newly-opened medicinal herbage dispensaries popping up here in AZ. Neat. I pull into the warehouse lot, get out of the parking lot, and MAN it is FRAGRANT. Is that wafting over from the dispensary??? Wow. Anyway, I check out this dude's stereo stash, wow, what a sh!tload of stuff in there, piled high to the ceiling. Marantz, Kenwood, Sansui, Harman Kardon, JBL, Altec Lansing, you name it. I try out a few things, settle on the Pioneer w/ Realistic speakers. So I'm loading up my car with my new found goodies and I notice that two bays over, the door is rolled up and and two people are carrying out a few translucent Rubbermaid-type tubs full of..... yeeeeahhhh....do I see what I think I see??... and loading it into a van. Not everyday I find myself in a warehouse parking lot, in a gritty section of Phoenix, carrying a big wad of cash, with massive piles of fragrant trees being transported before my eyes. 100% Legally. Kind of surreal. 2015 is a strange time. I swear, I drove off with JUST the stereo!! I'm getting up in years, but I haven't caught the glaucoma yet..
