Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

True, latitude isn't everything. In Chicago you get that incredibly cold wind from Lake Michigan.

Washington state - you've got the ocean regulating the temperature.

Sam's usually got it colder than I do here in Madison, whether that's a function of latitude or not I'm not sure. I just know that it's usually worse where he is.

Who says we aren't edumacated in here?

We can pontificate on world history, global climate issues, and toob toanz.

Weather patters are a tough problem to solve. Complex fluid dynamics combined with geography and thermodynamics/stat mech/chemical heating/retention. Just simulating the theory we do understand crushes some of the most powerful computers. Its why the weather man is usually wrong.

Is the Failure doc any good? Saw them in the rain last fall at Riot Fest, good stuff. Looking fwd to new material.

Yeah it was really good.

Saw this the other day. I am thinking about picking it up as a low wattage tube amp and also practice for learning how to tolex. I, however, am only really interested if I can get it for $150 bucks or less. I messaged the guy and it is fully operational with a 3 prong already on it. Haven't heard a whole lot about these amps, but what I have heard is that they actually have a really nice tone to them, and I have had my eyes peeled for low wattage tube options for sometime.
for lord sake go buy that!! I have a 1066 PA amp I use for bass and it rules.

Don't retilex it let it rock as is.

I'm not big on European history, but if anyone wants to discuss the social constructs of the Incan empire I'm your guy.

I wanted to write a concept of Mayan history, then Xibalba came out. Some of the rituals make the Egyptian ones look like wimp stuff.
The history of the new world is one of the most depressing topics I've ever read.
Strictly for its brevity and lack of depth.

As many unique cultures as Europe and the middle East with little to no surviving knowledge.

My predecessors suck.

In the grand scheme of things, I am not that far north. There are several US states that are further North that I am and a lot of Europe is also further North. However the jetstream seems to always work against us here and we seem to be on the wrong side of it more often. Ottawa is the coldest capital city in the world, even colder than Moscow, Stockholm, Helsinki and Oslo on average.

Yep. More comes in to play than just latitude. Lake effect snow will crush you. I know the east cost got hit hard a little bit ago, but MI gets hit on a regular basis.

For what it's worth, Warsaw is much further north than New York and we've got Spring temperatures here for like a week now. Constant 46 during the day and around 30 at night (yeah, I had to find a converter for that :D).
But then again, we had almost no Winter this year.

Heard it's pretty nasty on the other side of the big pond.

Somehow I skimmed over talk of a SCPB. I have now caught up and GAS re ignited. Also picked up quite a haul this weekend. Picked up a late 60's gibson humbucker for cheap, a tiesco bass for a bud and snagged a tech 21 RBI on the cheap. I need to start dumping some stuff. Wish they would put that dang train I from where I love to chicago so I can go bass shopping for real.

I could go for some Tims right now. I am the only one dumb enough to come to work today. Nono e else made it, from my department. And I have the worst car.

Don't you love that? It was cold last thursday, but not anything out of the ordinary - a solid 2/3 of my English class didn't show up. It's winter in the midwest, it's going to snow and it's going to be cold. Not really an excuse to not show up.

Seller texted me back saying that he just got an offer(after my initial inquiry) for $150 from someone who wants to drive two hours to pick it up tomorrow. I *could* swing it now though would be much more comfortable doing so Thursday after I get paid. I wasn't planning on giving him any more than $150 though. In my brief research I had read that $250-$300 is an acceptable price for a clean looking outfit WITH the original cab. He was hoping for the $175 and was hinting that it could be mine if I "outbid" the other guy. As much as I think it would be cool to pick this up, I think I am going to call his bluff and message him on Thursday anyway. If I miss out, it is no big deal. Just thought an old 60w tube bass amp would make a cooler practice amp than my little Eden combo(though this combo is pretty sick as well).
