The Mama Tried afterparty show went great! Best 1 and a half songs VEGA has ever played. Then the fuzz, and not the good kind, came and told us to turn down/shut it down. Shame because the tonez were unreal in the place, everything was balanced perfect. First time in 15 years thats happened to this no so quiet biker shop. People were really diggin us and when we stopped people got bummed. Must have been the phenominal bluegrass band that played before us, they were SOOOOOOOOO LO)))UD. But still had lots of fun.
Now Im drinking a caprisun thats ouy of date by 2 years...it tastes like my childhood.

Went to Alton Brown live last night for our eleventh anniversary. Entertaining even if it was a well traveled road.
Spent most of the afternoon and evening before it nursing scotch.

I put ads up looking for certain pieces of gear. I feel janitors pain, I was very specific and the emails I received over night are so off base.
Need a cheap 4 space rack? How about a $200 12 space rolling rack?
low wattage tube amp? How about a 50 watt 2x12 valveking?
Peavey ipr 2 3000 dsp? How about a Behringer PA?
look for cool vintage low wattage solid state too. my little ampeg i posted a pic of rips even without a ped.
Not getting this for metal level gain, if that's what rips implies. Clean to light drive. Not willing to spend/trade bait but $100 so it'll be a wait, but I'm not in a hurry.
Got an offer for a vht special 6, but I really want a combo. Something small to perch by the couch.

All in all it was very funny, even if overtly kid-friendly.
The wife really liked it and I've spent more money on things I've liked much less so it was a solid 7 in my book.
I will say I've been to allot of sold-out comedy shows and the crowd last night was very cool. Zero drama, very causal and polite.
Nothing, just wanted to downsize my stuff for VEGA. If I use the Dunwich preamp/DI I have to bring a big pedal board and the massive 800 Booster. For VEGA I use a small pedal board and my Tuxedo Bass 300, every inch we save is a lot for us. Ill still use the dunwich DI for full PVYHenge with Galactic Hatchet.
No by "rips" it just sounds super cool. Cranking the gt-10 sounds like pushing a tube amp. kinda has that blue/honky tonk gain thing going on. The GT takes peds very well too. They are kinda pricey but if you can find a gt-10 or the g100/b100 under $100 do not hesitate to buy it. The b100 actually sludges up when pushed and i wanted one forever before scoring this gt-10.

Except that it's a combo and not a head, the valveking might be a cool low watt tube amp for bass. Maybe voiced weird, though.
The others are so far off the mark it's that it's kinda hilarious, yet also sad.
WWI is pretty interesting, really. It really was the end of a world order, the end of the world as the people of the time knew it.need to start reading again. I've always been fascinated by WWI. Not a whole lot of movies about it other than various adaptations of All Quiet on the Western Front. I think that's partly because it was, in terms of accomplishing things, largely pointless. With WWII, we can feel kinda good about defeating the Nazis and fascist Japan and Italy. I mean, the world is definitely better off without Hitler. So in that sense, at least, there was a reason to fight it. No one really achieved anything with WWI. So it's hard to make movies out of, for that reason, I suppose. Also because the front that western countries fought on kinda mostly nothing happened but people dying for less than a few miles of territory, for four years. The naval war and the eastern fronts had their moments of excitement, but aside from Lawrence of Arabia, you don't see so many films about those, since they're far away from our involvement.

Yeah. There are a lot of WWII films, but not many set in Europe in April 1945, when the war was all but over.
I like it for its exploration of the weirdness of that period. Everyone knew who was going to win. The allies knew. The Germans knew. The end result wasn't really in doubt. But the battles still had to be fought, even though the war would be over in a month (in Europe, anyway). So there's a sort of discomfort at that realization, that in short time, the enemy won't be the enemy anymore, they'll just be... well, some people from another country. And that things will go back to "normal," whatever that is... and the sort of unsaid discomfort that that idea brings, because how can anything go back to normal after those experiences, those years? I like the movie because it really gets into that.
Lawrence of Arabia is on prime in HD, need to watch that.

Lawrence of Arabia is a great movie. it's long but very well done and seeing as how I lived in the area for 15 years it really interests me historically.
my great grand father and his brother fought in WWI. one fought on the ottoman side the other with the Arabs. one day they met on a battlefield. at night my great grandfather snuck across the lines and found his brother. he told him "this is stupid, I know where there is some ottoman gold we can take". they stole the gold and went AWOL.
