Apple pie for breakfest Mmmmmm. Making VEGA bean dip for merch, since were all out of cds and shirts, for our show tonight at a motorcycle show afterparty...should be a good time, last one we did was a blast although i dont recall much of what happened.
Bikers here at least and Oklahoma are big on meth. Maybe you should bake up some official "VEGA warp speed".

Comparing T-45 to ATK and to throw a wild card in there RB650.
ATK is still head of the pack tone and play ability are there.
T-45 trailing, has the tones but the neck is a little wider and squared off than I'm used to.
RB650 is still in the wheel house on feel but tones it's lacking. If I didn't have the other two it would be playing.

Hey guys I've been searching threads for an hour that led me to this page and I'm hoping you can lend a hand.
I'm looking for a pedal to get a Sludge Metal/Speed Rock like bass tone ala Kvelertak, Baroness, Red Fang. Get the idea?
I've tried a few pedals and can't seems find the sound I'm looking for. So far the Heavy Electronics El Oso is on the top of the list. What else can you guys suggest?
Anyone Checkout the Black Arts Toneworks Pharaoh?
Any help is always appreciated.

As to touring... I'm hoping we can put together something for going up to Portland and Seattle a few months from now. Maybe with Dwell and Lament Cityscape.
Problem is... most of us have actual jobs and stuff. Most of which won't just let people up and leave for a few months to tour. It kinda sucks. I don't know how other bands do it. We're mainly working on stuff for the next album right now, have played some of it live. It's a lot different than the first album in that we now have individual songs between 8 and 13 minutes long. We do want to play further afield, though, definitely. How long it will be until we make it back east where you and most of the other people on this thread are, I have no idea, unfortunately. Hopefully sooner rather than later, though.
That sucks a lot. Bums me out more than I would have expected, actually.
I'm actually not a fan of the regular EHX Big Muff for an "always-on" effect. Its mid scoop makes it work well with my wah pedal, but otherwise it's nearly inaudible. The Swollen Pickle from Way Huge I like a lot better on its own, as you can dial out the scoop for a really nasty fuzz that will tear people's faces off.
Eh, 200 jobs in one community is actually pretty bad for that community. Because all those people, with their incomes, were spending money in the community supporting other people's jobs. I wouldn't be surprised if this had a pretty substantial ripple effect in that area.
At the same time, Peavey did hold out longer than most, it's true. It's hard to compete when everyone else is taking advantage of outsourcing. Stupid of them to film something during the time this poopie is going down, though.

It is. Yob's Atma is incredibly heavy, though, I agree. I think they, along with Bongripper, Thou, and Laudanum, are kinda what go in my own mental category of "the heaviest bands," I suppose.

On my Peavey, currently just the strap buttons, which are held in with longer screws than original, plus matchsticks and copious amounts of wood glue.
That's not how it works. Things that "take years off your life" do it, generally, by making all the poopy things about old age, mainly related to the body breaking down and things not working right anymore, happen sooner than they otherwise would. They're not cutting out the old man years, they're reducing the number of years you have until those set in. At least if you end up dying younger due to chronic damage, rather than killing yourself via OD (including alcohol poisoning).

Enough of them together and it doesn't matter how much xmax they have individually, because as you add more, each one needs to do less and less to get the same result in air movement. A big enough cabinet of them can probably take anything you might throw at them.
The main issues aren't that they can't get low, or get loud. But rather, that from a perspective of "amount of loudness per pound of weight and dollar spent on parts," it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to use a bajillion small speakers instead of a couple big ones, no matter what the magnets are made out of. To get the same result out of the small speakers, even if their frequency response is the same as a bigger one, you need a much larger number of magnets, frames, and voice coils. The amount of material used for the magnets will be more, even though the magnets for the smaller speakers are, of course, smaller, as they aren't smaller enough that they will only equal the amount used for a couple big magnets. Obviously, instead of needing like four voice coils and frames, you'll need forty or however many. While these parts aren't themselves expensive, they still need to be put together, which takes time, which is money.
Subwoofers tend to use bigass drivers not because bigass drivers are necessarily any better at producing low end than smaller drivers, but for the amount of air movement desired, it's more cost-effective from both a dollar and a weight point of view to use one assembly instead of many, especially as the downsides of big drivers (dispersion beaming) don't matter at subwoofer frequencies.
Which is another issue with a driver of many tiny drivers laid out this way. Yes, smaller drivers have an advantage over larger ones in the dispersion of highs and mids.... but that advantage is lost when you lay them out horizontally.
Basically, while this cab design would probably work fine in terms of both volume and frequency range, the only advantage it really offers over a cab with similar performance that uses 18"s, 15"s, 12"s, or 10"s, is that if one driver blows, it doesn't affect the overall volume much... and since hopefully you won't blow any drivers, it's an advantage of dubious value, considering that it comes at the expense of increased cost and weight when compared to more traditional cabs.

Eh, I dunno. I guess our tastes are different when it comes to bass overdrive, as it sounds pretty meh to me. Pretty much just sounds like when I used to plug my bass into cheap guitar dirtboxes. Similar to the Boss Metalzone pedal, actually.
It sucks, I have a place to stay down there, but I can't swing the amount of money they're asking for tickets. Pretty bummed about it, as I'd love to see SubRosa again, and to see Cult of Luna.

Gotta say I'm not too keen on humping my SVT rig but not sure a pair of 4 ohm GK 212MBE's will hack it - I'd have to slap together a rack rig to power it if not the SVT head. I still have an old Carvin DCM1000 that can put 350w into each of these 600w rated cabs, I figure I can crank that without worrying about anything blowing up
I think a "P" bass would be fine, what do yous guys think about flats vs the more commonly used rounds? I have a "P" with active EMGs and flats as my primary bass presently but have others I could set up for this project. I don't much care for 5 strings - but I presently tune DGCF and could go lower if needed, or an octave pedal or ?
Ditch the 4 ohm 212s and bring a bigass cab. SVT rig. Also, in doom bands, generally everyone helps everyone else move their gear, if the band members are worth a damn.
I use rounds, myself. To me flats kinda just sound like dead rounds. I tune BEAD, as I don't care for 5 strings, either. They're not bad, I just like the feel of 4 better.

Damn, that's sad and scary. My dog is 15 going on 16 now. I worry about him a lot. Vet says he's healthy for his age, though, so... I guess that's good. He's pretty spry for such an old dog, really.
Yeah... here that's also illegal. You can't have dogs lose and chasing after things. Which, really, is a good thing for the dogs, too. More incentive to keep an eye on them that way, and so fewer getting hit by cars.
Irresponsible, neglectful dog owners really piss me the shag off. Poor pups deserve better than that.
The pickup placement on those is something I just can't get over in terms of looks. This isn't really allowed to say on TB, but just moving that pickup assembly closer to the bridge transforms the whole thing from beautiful to hideous, in my eyes. Like there's a fundamental wrongness about it. I guess kind of like body horror in movies, when something is so *almost* human that it's just creepy as hell.
On another note, though, Rickenbacker really should make an Al Cisneros signature model. All they'd have to do would be introducing a sparkly green finish for the otherwise stock 4003, really. Maybe issue it with a NASA patch in the case goodies.
I haven't really noticed much, if any coloration to the sound from my TU-3. Not sure what the CS-3 does.
Have you tried just cranking the gain on the Orange? Also, given that amp's tone stack, you might get a nastier, filthier sound by diming the mids and rolling back bass and treble.
I don't like most overdrive pedals, myself, with the exception, so far, of the Swollen Pickle. You can get some nasty, mean tones out of that thing. That said, lots of people on here love their overdrive/fuzz pedals.
I don't think you could go wrong with either pedal, having owned both. The red fang bass tone has always just been that Mesa mid clank metal tone. White zombie did it first. He had one of those 4-12 cabs for awhile. Mess with your Orange too. It should get you in the neighborhood.
