Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

This one. The handling is similar is what I mean. Both handle around 400 watts, but ones super tiny. Could I use the phil jones instead and never know?
Wattage doesnt tell you much.
They're proprietary drivers so the xmax is unknown, which makes the comparison difficult.
I've played the 6t/9b stack and subjectively it seemed like a 4x10 in volume so I'd estimate the compact4 to be a little better than a quality 1x10.
Of course this is depending on my garbage disposal of a memory.

yeah... I just cant see those little speakers EVER having the xmax necessary for REAL DOOM VOLUME. I think they can be useful for the Hi Fi guys who want to be present in the mix for their fusion band, but even if every speaker adds db's I just cant see it really making anyone's pants flap.. but..... I could be wrong.

In other news, This rock master is stupid loud, the guy had a 4ohm 2x12 and I had the pre and post at 2 and it was quite loud, my only 4 ohm cabs are my dually or both 4x10 arrays so basically it only can be loud as it stands. My dad got his free wood working saws and tools from a family friend last Sunday, so next time I visit I can build up my pignose 40 watt. Maybe I'll buy or craft a cab for these heads that's 4ohms like a 1x12 or vert 2x12.

Id totes rock that Rockmaster through the Dually for awesome LOUD grindy bass

What else this guy got? Can you possibly make a list? You may need to middle man something, ill make it worth your while.

Found a roadworn Countryman DI type 85 on evilbay last night, put out a bid, lets see if i can snag it for cheap...

I think that's the one I have, too. The basic one. No output vol. knob, it's driven by the amp (I think) when I run it b/w head & cab. I NEVER run it it b/w bass & board or board & head. I think it has a high/low switch. From the MDT set the other night, the engineer said he preferred the mic'd 18 and mixed in some DI signal.

They seriously need to get someone that has a basic grasp of spelling to write their copy. Credibility goes out the window when there's half a dozen spelling errors in one paragraph.

I would suspect the sensitivity of that 4" driver to be quite low. So even if it actually does handle that amount of power, it wont be loud. That said, armed with power handling, sensitivity, and even -3dB and -10dB roll off points, you only have small pieces of the picture.

New Acid King is up for preorder. Unfortunately it looks like it is Euro distro only. Debating on pulling the trigger, hate paying $10 shipping for a $20 item.

Now's not a bad time to buy Euro or Can distribution stuff if you can get the price in the domestic currency then covert to USD at checkout; USD is pretty strong. Conversely, sites that charge a flat USD rate for shipping (let's say $10 USD no matter what) are getting a nice windfall these days.

oh boo hoo, cry me a river. shipping a record from the US to canada is a minimum of $12 that's like $20 Canadian now.

Guitar player in the old band had a regular tightmetal - sounded good, but nothing earth-shattering. Might have just been the way that he had it set.

They do make bass-specific fuzz and drive pedals that are pretty damn sweet, just a little beyond my spending comfort zone, though.
