I've drooled over the demos of them I've heard, even though my chintzy-@$$ed headphones. Black Arts seems like one cool friggin' company. I love they made a pedal with ZERO knobs or switches.

Nice! The rosewood pick guard better be banging, if it's covering that beautiful body. The thing looks evil as is. I'd play it!Black Korina Bass Update. All done except for rosewood pickguard that's on it's way. Loving how it turned out. Used tinted Velvit Oil on the body. Really happy with the results. Won't be able to play it on the big rig for a few days, but sounds effing great through the small rig. Smooth, unobtrusive highs, Wonderfully vocal yet growly mids, and tight but strong lows. Series switch is pretty wicked. I really like the Wenge/Macassar Ebony/Black Korina combo. All the woods really compliment each other well both tonally and visually. The pickguard should really set it off, which will be sanded to ~1200 grit and oiled.
In usual warmoth fashion, neck bolted up perfectly and action was 90% the way there without any adjustments whatsoever. A few tweaks to saddle height and intonation and it was perfect. The wonder of CNC.
Most of all, I'm stoked to not have a wrist bone that feels like it's going to explode. Something about my technique just does not work with thunderbird bodies. Sad, since I love them aesthetically.
you know what? i really like strat tones. and wanky guitar bends, and tasty riffs, and the drum/bass flourishes. i think what i don't like about these new clone bands is the vocals and how the song structure is based entirely around them, as well as the "generic scandinavian guy voice" they put on.
Radio Moscow i really like but it comes dangerously close to that territory. Blues Pills fall into the same category but save themselves with brilliant female vox.

I don't mind the Scandinavian guy voice. I mean, I like a lot of Scandinavian bands.
What I mind is that, for me, they're... well... just not very exciting. They sound like the parts of Black Sabbath that I like the least. And border almost on dad rock, to me. Despite being loud, it's still somehow also polite.
And it's not like I dislike all old-school sounding, blues based rock. DMN's band sounds great, to me.

The bridge pup was replaced with a Delano. It sounds pretty damn good, though I need to replace the screws holding it with some sturdier ones. I took the pup cover off to enable picking...let's just say it's a bit easier on the fake than on the real mccoy.
Plugged into the Vulcan and it's ripping. I noted the low end output on it's a little less than my other axes so I turned it up on the Vulcan. Killer.
Ran it through a BB and, oh boy.

The color is cool, but the placement of the bridge pickup completely throws off the looks for me. I'm not just saying that because it's a copy, or anything. The old Japanese copies look great, IMO... but then their pickup placement is much closer to what it is on the Rickenbacker ones. I'm sure it sounds fine, though.
Sounds like a bunch of us have some sweet opening spots landed. Go team.
Agreed on the bridge pup placement. Overall, it looks like a cheap knockoff, which it is. Sounds great though, and'll serve well as a "dive bar Ric."
