Yeah, doing the same with my board, but don't have quite as many pedals. I started with a total of 8 and an effects loop pedal, and have cut 2 pedals out. I actually recently got rid of my DOD 250. It was a solid pedal, I just felt my dirt was better served with other pedals. I actually preferred the 250 on bass over guitar. What's been nice so far is that I've either been able to sell or use my moved pedals on my guitar rig. My Pharaoh is now my guitar fuzz, and it uses identical settings to my bass! Waiting for the GK 800RB Pedal Sim in the mail for some growl. Right now, I'm using JohnK's Gamma Bass OD for light, articulate fuzzy sounds, and it's great. The GK grind will, however, replace it. That'll give me my "fuzz" (GK grindy) tone, my OD (B3K), and my modulation (combo of phaser and filter after the other tones) and then an Fdeck Series 3 and gate to finish it off. I never really need more than 2 main sounds, with a few parts of modulation for fun, so I've been trying to scale down. I'm finally getting there!

What DOD 250 are you guys using, and is it very different from my Joyo UD?

Cleaned up my first ever bass I got back over ther summer from a stranger. I really don't need another p bass, so hopefully I can trade it towards a telecaster. Also have an acoustic I don't use, but I feel like selling it would be a mistake.

This is what I work with now. I'm thinking of ditching at least the Mastotron. It's a nice gated fuzz, but I don't really use it.
I've got the reissue DOD too.
For now, DOD kicked the B3K off the board. I just felt it fits the stuff we play a bit better.
In my ears, DOD is a more tubey than the UD. I liked the UD, but it got kicked off by B3K.

Yeah, DOD has only one sound, but dimed it can easily get into nasty distortion territory which is kinda what I was also looking for. On the other hand, I felt that B3K gets me lost in the mix . It sat nicely under the mix and held all the lows, but I felt that playing in a trio I needed to be heard a little bit. Changing Fuzz War for Cloven Hoof made all the difference. That mid shift knob makes it really stand out, altough it has a bit less gain on tap.
I'm starting to wonder if I really need a fuzz. My guitarist recently stopped using his Swollen Pickle altogether and plays exclusively through some boutique heavy distortion I never remember the name of It still sounds really heavy.
And, he officially said that he stopped following what effects I have as I flip them too often

Dude at this point I'm starting to forget what it's like to be in a band. Just don't have the freedom in my schedule for that.

I definitely get the DOD nasty distortion sound. But it IS all it does. And I know it works for many. I just don't typically like really distorted bass sounds. That's just me, though. Trust me, I tried to find a way to keep it on the board, but I couldn't justify the space. Your B3K statement is a bit odd. Mine cuts no problem! Here are my settings if you're interested - they get me a nice, modern thrash sound ala Testament or Exodus.

Blend: 10:30ish
Level: Noon
Drive: 3:00
Treble Switch: Off
Bass Switch: Raw (sometimes thin)

Fugg, I think I'm still ever-so-slightly hungover from the gig Sat night, was up until 5 am, 6 with the spring forward. Great gig, though. Good turnout, big stage, loud sound, sold lots of merch. The AD200 > 3620 always sounds awesome, not sure if I like that or the Vulcan more right now. Vulcan is lighter, so that may give it the edge. Chinabacker sounded immense, tons of grind, cut & presence.

Next up is a late March gig with Galactic Hatchet: Pvyhenge Roadshow.

Well, maybe I overexagerated a bit. It's not like I was completely lost, but I didn't quite like how it sat in the mix. It was all lows and almost no mids.
I'll try your settings though, they are pretty different than mine. I have the drive dimed and no blend. Switches are the same as yours.

No blend as in all clean (as much as possible) or all B3K? All B3K gets me lost too, but lower blend settings have been good for me too. Probably because of that "I don't want crazy amounts of distortion on my bass signal" thing I was talking about earlier. Let me know what you think about my settings.

Yup, all B3K.
Now that I have the DOD to do "crazy distortion" thing, I'll try to scale down on gain on B3K and like it some more.

I had the most recent revision from 2013. True bypass and all that. A great OD, but redundant for me. I also have the iStomp, which has a pretty good DOD 250 sound as well. It'll serve me if I ever need it again. The UD and 250 are pretty different to me. The UD is much more tweakable. I still have mine, though don't use it at the moment. Also, I feel the UD can be smoother than the 250. From what I found, the 250 is either on or off. Sure, there are settings that have less grit, but really, if you started to hear grit, it wasn't "smooth". Not that it's bad, I liked its character, but it's a kind of one trick pony. If you like that sound, you can dial it in for all varieties of heavy, but you'll never get it to sound like something else. It'll just be varying degrees of 250 dirt. I found the DOD to do doomy stuff well, but that was really it for me. The UD is much more versatile and sounds better on guitar than the 250. Again, all of this is my experience. I'd still recommend picking up a used 250 if it's a good deal and you're interested. It's not a bad pedal by any means, just didn't fit my needs. Your needs might fit it quite well. Who knows?

I think I'll stick to the UD, it was like $25. Those DOD 250's have jumped a lot, nothing was under $100 on reverb.

I'm not going for lots of gain and distortion (with this pedal) and depending on the context it's used I reverse the settings, so can't be having a one trick pony. I've only used it on bass (though a friend borrowed it for a couple months for guitar).

I prefer the UD when the high switch engaged, and I bumped the volume, but I was trying to keep it just over unity volume. If that's close to what the DOD does, I'd snag a local one of it was under $80 mayybe. Really pedal wise I'm good, just want one modulation, but can't decide what.
