Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I can't be the only one to have thought, "Hey, I like bigfoot AND death metal, why isn't there a bigfoot themed death metal band out there?" There is! And here's their bandcamp: TROGLODYTE

I actually saw these guys years ago in Kansas City opening up for Iced Earth. Quite the mismatch of styles, but I couldn't remember their name. Been searching on and off for years. This time, it came right up in the results. Awesome.

Stoner not Death, I dig the lyrics.

got my e609 today, excited to be venturing into the expensive world of microphones. AKG P2 next once i get my second cab, and a pair of ampclamps.

Sennheiser makes great microphones. I've got a pair of e835s that just KILL the 58 for vocal applications - same price point too.

...and you're only scratching the surface of "expensive" microphones, haha.

hoo boy. i have a contact at Sennheiser NZ so i'm getting them pretty cheap but it's still pretty pricey. considering the e602-II rather than the AKG at the moment because of that. we'll see!

Just got word that my labella flats for my Bass VI are coming in on thursday and theyll ship em when they get them. WOOOOOO!!! Ill probably buy a new bridge from staytrem tomorrow. Then my Bass VI will be all set.

Been thinking about modding it...I wanna put an old EHX LPB1 I have into it and replace the bass strangle toggle with the on off for that circuit there. And the knob and routing and battery under the pickgaurd. Sometimes I feel the pickups arent hot enough for some things, i think this would fix that. Thoughts?

I am starting a new 2 piece with a friend of mine. Just bass and drums with an aim to sound like a blend of Lightning Bolt, Sabbath and The Dillinger Escape Plan. Noisy, doomy and mathy with a lot of Sabbathy riffs. I have been thinking a bass VI may be pretty cool for such a project.

I honestly can't imgine anyone needing more than the P2 for bass, especially in a rock/metal setting. there is no way anyone could hear the difference between it and something more expensive once everything is all mixed.

Might be easier to put in new pickups, or raise the ones that you have so they're closer to the strings.

I loved the bass strangle

I raised the pickups likeand that helped. At the same time if you find a source for a good set Lemme know.

What does mathy, math rock imply?
