Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

The one you brokered for me is mui bueno. I felt $250 was a good, fair price. $500 is horsepoopie.
Took the SVT II Pro for a spin for about an hour, everything works, one pot was kind of dusty, cleaned it and it's fine. The mid selector knob is loose, I just re-tightened the set screw. That's about all that was wrong with it so far.
It sounds really good, obviously. I need to spend some time with the EQ settings, and dig out my 2-button footswitch for the graphic EQ. I'm hoping to use that like a second channel. The built in OD sounds pretty good at low volume, I suspect it sounds better turned up a bit more. I don't know if it's louder than the hartke, but the quality of tone and room-filling weight of low notes is impressive, even at low volume. So I can't wait to crank it up with a drummer and see what it can really do.
Tried some pedals with it - hung on to the bass soul food to try it with a tube amp, even less impressed. Baked in mid honk, doesn't sound good. OD Glove sounded better, but it did cut a little low end - that can sometimes be compensated for by a higher volume setting on the OD pedal, again I need to hear at volume. Bass Big Muff sounded pretty shaging gnarly, as did the Bazz. So far so good!
I'll probably take some gut shots in the next couple of days, but here it is:

Tough GH practice...worked on vocals mostly. Starting to get it but its still really hard, but Im confident Ill be able to sing on one song in Iowa City with Pelham Bleu
My gear is sitting next to one right now at the rehearsal spot. He uses it with a 810 and very little in the chain between the bass. I'll take a mental note of the two pedals he's using. But at volume is where this head will blossom. Just be careful of power sag. They will go into protect mode (or at least his does) if there is any sag. Noted, thanks! I'm going to keep the bias at recommended levels at least for a little while. I always use a power conditioner, so hopefully that will keep it happy with clean, steady power.
I need to find a rack for it now, hoping someone at work has one that they don't want anymore - or would like to trade for a 3 space + cash.

just a tip if you've never used an SVT before. I find it is easier to turn the bass all the way down, then set your mids and treble. Once that is done, slowly turn up the bass until it fills out the bottom end to taste.
I had a Green Rhino. On bass it had more gain than the Pork Loin but the Pork Loin was warmer sounding to me. It worked good with bass. On guitar it had a decent low to mid gain overdrive, no heavy gain though.
I'm looking for low to mid gain on guitar, so that's a plus! I'm thinking I might make it a boost for my "heavy" channel to thicken it up further. Right now I'm using a cheap knock off tubescreamer clone for that, and I figure the Rhino is (at least according to many) one of the BEST TS clones out there. I'll try it on bass and guitar, like I do with all my pedals, and see what happens. Thanks!
That's EXACTLY what I'm doing! My Gamma is working in that spot now, and will be getting switched out tonight. I'll let you know what I think...
Next Friday is our first show in kind of awhile. Playing the three songs we recorded for the upcoming release, along with 2 even newer tracks. The one new song is both the fastest and most technically difficult song we've written to date. One section is giving me a hard time which doesn't happen very often. Practicing it over and over to hopefully be able to play it live
